Didn't expect this at all. During that quest where you meet her, I Noticed I could pull my weapon, and wanted to see if she'd drop something. And she did! A nice pair of maxtac mantis blades :-) I ran as fast as I could, jacked a vehicle and managed to lose my 5 star wanted level in the park.

Interesting. I took them all down (because I was mad the devs had her accuse me of enjoying killing even though I used—always use—a nonlethal takedown), but not a single one of them dropped anything.

I guess it makes sense I can't take her parts if she's still alive, but I thought at the very least I'd get some guns, broken guns for parts or something they were using against me.

Anyone happen to know if doing this prevents me doing any later missions? She invited me to join the NCPD (you'd think someone would have done so after solving so many NCPD cases, but nope, cops just start shooting at me even while on those jobs and the targets are ok'd for takedown). So, I'm worried if I continue the game I'll miss content. But, from the sounds of this post, that's the only time Rory shows up?

Yeah.
Far as I know, this event is not tied to anything else.
Its just another way to get those MaxTac mantis blades.

The other way requires Phantom Liberty, and a specific set of quest choices, for a slightly different set of MaxTac mantis blades.

Also, agreed. NCPD should have an option to recognise V as a high quota SubCon (sub contractor) who has helped them in the past.
Only corrupt cops should still fire at V if V helps them in a scuffle or firefight.

Her and her team are some of the few 'named' MaxTac in game I think (meaning, they have actual names when you scan them. I tend not to scan cops in case they think I'm hacking em XD)

some cops have those yellow arrows over their heads, same as gangoons, corpo mooks and the occasional NPC civies. (instead of the standard blue arrow)
they can aggro on V directly, rather than just if a fight starts.

(there are a couple of cops in basegame that have this. one is sat in their car watching some ahem, adult entertainment. can hear it as you get close. if you stand about too close, they get annoyed at you and go for V. the other one i remember is a cop talking to two Tyger Claws on a street corner, appologising for their stuff, probably drug money, going into the storage instead of where the Tygers expected)

there are also Barghast that are blue arrows (same as cops generally outside Dogtown) as well as ones with yellow.

while i guess a lot of cops would fall into that category, i meant the cops that have the yellow arrow.
so, game mechanics corrupt rather than 'i take bribes' corrupt

Yeah, I agree. I don't mind them being ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ when you get too close (like the cartoon that comes on TV sometimes says, "You shouldn't even look at an NCPD officer unless instructed to 😄). But, the dude I just shot, with a Pax weapon, has a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dead or alive warrant on him. Leave me alone while I do your job for you!

Stopped attempting to be immersed in the game after I helped out some Mox who were being chased by Tyger Claws (car chase through a tunnel out on the east side hills) and they immediately started attacking me. Thought I must have done something to piss them off, so went back to my latest save and tried again about 8 more times before I said "♥♥♥♥ it" this game doesn't want me to care about anything, just kill kil kill.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if I switched to peaceful in Act 2 just to spite CDPR? 😆


Anyway, thanks for the info. Was planning to use a different save going forward, but if it literally doesn't matter, I'mma keep that save as a point of pride.

(BTW, the key was to stand between the helicopter blades as their hitbox is larger than the graphics and NPCs won't attempt to climb up there. Did make it hard for me to shoot between the blades, but got it on the first try after trying that way.)

yeah, i have met that firefight myself on the way to talk to Kerry. Tho it wasn't a Mox they were after that time. they actually took each other out, and i was left clearing the mess up so i could drive thru the wreckage.

(one car was burning, three Tygers in pieces and a couple of others, think they were Scav's...i had to grab them and move them off the road. i miss being able to move the heads/arms like in Fallout4, or i would bin them lol)

I have had cops just below my apartment thank me when they get into a shootout with Tygers. more often before in 1.61.
sometimes the cops are red on the minimap and saying 'i dont even WANT to find you' which i think is their way of saying 'thanks, but im obliged by law to shoot you if i find you, so..stay hidden'

hitting gangoons with quickhacks from a distance like overheat, contagion and resetting their eyes, hitting zippy goons with cripple movement. so the cops can hit them, can work if you want to help out. tho sometimes you have to be close(er) to them to get the damage to work.
had that happen with those tygers. i can stand at the bottom of the other stairs and whang em in the head with a neurotoxin blade, but they don't take the damage till i get closer. same with quickhacks.
then, when the cops have taken em out and start looking, i just dash up the stairs and over the road to the garage.

its hard enough to sleep with a next door neighbour jiggleing about in the shower (sounds) and the constant flick of Johnny lighting up his smokes in my head, i don't need the back and forth between gangoons and cops with bullets below my apartment window lol.
