Chimera Core Inactive
Minor spoilers for the opening quest of Phantom Liberty:

I killed the Chimera bot and picked up its core. The optional quest point ticks and then tells me to talk to Myers. I figured somewhere along the line it would play into a quest or something. Many hours later I remember that the thing exists and start looking into what to do with it. Turns out you can make an Iconic weapon mod from it, but the recipe says that it requires an Active Chimera Core. Mine says that it is inactive.

It's late and my brain is tired and I feel like I'm being dumb. What am I missing?

You can make a weapon mod out of it?? I never knew that.
Instead, I placed it in V's apartment near the window and scorpion figurine. Although it is still glowing even after I placed it down.
Bumping this also cuz my curiosity has peaked, and wonder if anyone knows.

I used mine to craft a mod. No idea why yours is listed as inactive. Maybe there's a time limit on how long you have to use it before it becomes inactive?

Perhaps. I had a similar thought. I looked for a way to charge it. No luck. Looking online offers nothing of substance. Just a bunch of bottom tier gaming sites copy pasting each other's walkthrough of the relevant quest.

For reference this is what the tooltip shows. Ignore the Darktide titling. I have Cyberpunk on GoG so I hijacked a Steam screenshot to make this one.

Turns out that you're correct. I must've done it accidentally while upgrading weapon mods.
