Question about the fist fights
When I played back in launch, I remember these arena fights being almost literally impossible... unless I used gorilla arms. Is that still the case? Or have they made them way more forgiving? I ask because I just don't want to have to get gorilla arms every damn playthrough for the sake of one quest.

The initials are easy, the "last" fight is more difficult, so you'll have to use them. In my first playthrough I didn't win the last fight.
Until then it's peaceful.

you don't have to get gorilla arms at all now just like you didn't have to before. it takes some skill but can and always has been able to be done without. blocking is your friend.

I remember being able to do all of them pretty simply. Parrying is -HUGE-, especially on harder difficulties. The timing window is pretty wide, really. Just practice parrying and it'll make pretty much all of the fights simple.

Similarly, it's made playing with a katana on the hardest setting a lot easier, too since it creates a pretty fair stun window for melee enemies.

They did actually nerf the fights at some point, so it's actually theoretically possible with a 3 Body V, but the final fight is nearly impossible without something to boost you. Technically you can if you just parry the whole time, but it would take like half an hour.

They were pretty easy from my 2.0 play compared to 1.0. Certainly helped that apparently electrical discharges from being hit are perfectly legal in street fights.

Nah I still remember, those fights were ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ludicrous without them. To beat even the guy with the car with no gorilla would have taken ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hours, I still remember. The arms cuts that down to seconds.

may have been ludicrous, but it was doable without.

I found that just constantly punching them from the back will let you win the fights. That being said if you don't have mods or high stats they can take a ton of your health with on punch on the later fights. Just for giggles I had 15 body and the relevant perks and I respecced to a low body and no damage reducing cyberware and it was harder.
On my first playthrough (Before 2.0), I didn't use GA, and cleared all the fights with only Rhino giving me trouble. This time (After 2.0) I DID use GA just to change things up, and yeah they do kinda clear those fights no problem. They may take some practice, getting used to the kinda clunky melee mechanics, and some tricks like Sandevistan, but they're certainly not impossible. Just watch your stamina, block the heavy attacks which should be obvious and withdraw to regen health when you need to.
