Rip and Tear discussion
100% extra damage on your next quick melee after a shotgun blast hits, 100% extra damage on the next shotgun blast after a quick melee hit.

This perk is... unpleasant, from my experience. Obviously the payoff is getting that shotgun blast to deal double damage, but the annoyance is having to commit to a quick melee. Quick melee deals pitiful damage even when you unlock the associated perks. At level 30 I average around 100-200 damage, whereas a close range shotgun blast deals at least twice that much. So frequently the "bigger" payoff is to just shoot more and not quick melee.

Anyone got some insight on how to utilize this perk?

Yeah, quick melee is useless and so is this perk.

Maybe it's okay for "light" difficulty settings.

Can you just keep looping it? QM buffs SG buffs QM buffs SG?

You can, but quick melee sucks, so the time it takes to perform that is usually at least as well spent just shooting once more.

I dunno, if you boost your melee a bit theyre pretty decent end game, they one shot chaf. My melees are hitting for 530-1200 depending on if I've fired the setarra or where my stamina is.

You are better off just firing off another shotgun blast than trying to loop that perk. I tried using it and it was less effective than just firing your shotgun. You are wasting a lot of time closing the distance and with the melee animation, just fire another shot a short distance away.
