Does Phantom Liberty work pre-2.0?
I'm in the midst of my first playthrough and having a great time but I'm hearing that the game before the 2.0 patch is an entirely different beast, for this reason I'm planning on trying out that version for my second playthrough but I'd like to know if I'd be SOOL if I end up liking pre-2.0 better BEFORE I drop eddies on Phantom Liberty.

No. You have to update to play the expansion.

wait, you want to play on 1.63, see if you like it and buy PL with the intention of sticking with 1.63? PL is only compatible with 2.0 and higher, nothing would work otherwise.

you can downgrade and stick with 1.63 if you want, just don't expect anything in terms of content *with that patch, mods made with 2.0 in mind too. the good news though is that if you decide to update to the latest 2.0 then your 1.63 saves will work just fine.

♥♥♥♥, even if it's understandable why considering how much was changed it still stings the tiniest bit to hear.

I'm planning on picking up Phantom Liberty in a few days and I doubt that I'll be done with my first playthrough by then given the volume of content this game has to offer even without it. No instead I'm asking for the future once I eventually get around to that second playthrough.
EDIT: Perhaps I ought to get more sleep before opening discussions? Looked at the OP again and the way it's structured doesn't do many favours when it comes to clarity.
