You can't. You just gotta disassemble stuff and loot them.
NashEquil Sep 29, 2023 @ 7:38pm
No, you just "auto dismantle" broken stuff now. Like magic random components. It is the dumbest system I have never seen before.

Go full murderhobo. If you see a ganger, shuffle off the mortal coil, and dismantle their final worldly possessions.

(A.k.a. kill bad guys, loot their ♥♥♥♥ and break it for parts.)

In the early days when the game came out, you could buy components in some stores. But then they removed it to make it a crafting mode

This feels like a step backwards to me. I'm confused as to why they took all the depth out of the game. I put a lot of points into tech because I wanted to craft awesome stuff. Now it seems that putting points into tech no longer affects crafting. I'd have been better off putting points somewhere else.

I think they removed those because was easier to counter the duplication glitch.

it's a bit of a deal breaker. I enjoy the crafting / updating process - leveling up the weapons etc. If they can't or won't bring it back - i'll lose interest and toss it.

if you really don't want get them by breaking down items just download cyber engine tweaks and pump in the commands to give yourself the components you want. You can skip the grind that way. Kind of dumb they took them away from shops because it was easier to just buy them. They could have made them more expensive because they were practically free before.

you still need to dismantle the stuff that doesn't auto break down. it's not a dumb system it's a welcome QOL addition. the less you have to fiddle in the inventories sorting thru icons the better. worst thing about games with loot is the time sink of inventory management. Some games as so bad you barely get to play between inventory tetris sessions.

Could have sworn I have seen crafting components on a vendor. Extremely, hellishly expensive crafting components.

But maybe they were quickhack parts now that I think of it...

Yeah, the quick hack vendors sell those components, but the regular ones aren't for sale anywhere i have found, yet.
I just clear out trouble spots and break stuff down. You can buy junk to break down for the basic components.
Usually anything below 2k credits is fair game, unless I need quick cash for a purchase.
