Cars, pedestrian traffic completely gone. How do I get them back?
3090, 1 year old top tier PC, playing on SSD.
Tried restarting the game, computer, fast traveling, sleeping. Nothing. Not a single car in traffic. No mods at all.

I heard someone had a similar problem and it was connected to a story quest from the DLC. And progressing a little further in it fixed it.

Same problem here. Not sure what caused it but I'm having the same bug. No pedestrians, no road traffic anywhere. Entire city is eerily empty. Not sure when exactly it started though it MAY have been the first 'steal the vehicle' quest from the DLC.

Finishing one of the monk quests fixed it.

I had this glitch as well, I'm on PS5, do you think it would also fix my game?

I've had this problem, it's reoccurring unfortunately, at least until they patch it (Hopefully).

From my understanding the Judy mission where you go to clouds causes it and a few of the DLC missions. Pretty much if you did any of the problem causing missions the issue is going to keep popping up on your save (Somehow it doesn't affect every person).

I have found two ways of fixing it though.
One, visit dogtown, it fixes the issue most of the time but isn't 100%.
Two do a mission that isn't a car delivery mission, it fixes it sometimes and seems to work more often for people that aren't me.
Three, if you completed the DLC, go to your apartment and open that free braindance they give you then immediately exit out of it. This, for me, has worked 100% of the time.

It's 50/50 on if the problem will show itself the moment you load your save game for me it seems. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not. Once it's there, reloading potentially could work, some claim it has, but I think the chance of it happening on load is higher than the chance of it not.

TLDR: If you have no cars or peds, go to your apartment and open that DLC braindance then exit. Profit.

(Edit: As I wrote and posted this reply, I had to do this trick myself (Found this thread because I was wondering if someone found a permanent solution or reason to why it happens) and when I left my apartment there was a sand storm. In the middle of Night City. From a google search, apparently it happens and apparently some people had a permanent sandstorm bug so I hope I don't have that now too.)

I've had this issue twice now. Luckily each time it's solved its self simply by progressing with gigs & the story. Hopefully it'll get fixed.

Loading the Lizzy bd fixed it for me. Oddly, the bd itself is bugged. It transposed the concert over the wake. Either way, traffic and pedestrians are back

I got this, which persisted even through a reload, with the expansion mission Moving Heat. Some static groups of pedestrians still spawned in but the vast majority didn't, and absolutely no traffic on the roads.

It actually completely went away after I completed the old mission Happy Together (Barry's quest). Which is probably not going to be an option for too many. No idea what's going with that either nor why that particular mission reset traffic and pedestrians.

For me it was the quest with the Paco kid. Where you play as Hansen in a flashback. I didnt finish it and later realized that traffic and pedestrians was gone. Still did other quests to no awail. Went back and finished the Paco quest and Bingo. Back to normal. :)

I had just finished "Moving Heat" and was about to do the "Run This Town". I was leaving the pyramid when I decided that the best way to roleplay Aguilar would probably be in a Delamain, right? Damn, forgot to finish the last piece of the quest though, I had saved it for when I have Erebus. So I simply reload a save before I walked into the pyramid, just to avoid any glitches by leaving dogtown instead of meeting Jago. I got halfways through the city and realized it looked empty. I usually turn settings down a bit in Dogtown because I'm on a 2060, but there was no one. I turned the game off and forgot about it. Two days later, it's still there.. Still dunno what exactly caused it. But I know that becoming Aguilar messes with my walking/jogging speed, slowing it down. Usually if I look down at my feet, they kinda slide a bit because the animation isnt as fast as the walk speed, but it slows it down to the base speed, even after my face is back to normal. Not sure if reloading a save from before the effect happened is what screwed it all up, but yeah. Figured I'd toss my experience up here. About to do the BD. I wonder if Ripperdocs or the scanner at citycenter apartment's entrance will also fix it - I know they fix the broken wanted system and kick it back into gear for me.

Yeah, I had the same problem - and turns out the mission "Balls To The Wall" aka the Paco drug drip mission was to blame. Got through all the flashbacks, cars returned back to normal.

this worked for me. Started second monk side mission but never sat down and all cars were gone. Just finished the meditation and the cars were back.
