I have felt this way for years, I hope my love for games returns one day, my best times were in high school
For years it's been kind of strange, I don't really know what to tell you.
This is something for me that happens every few months, I just want to watch series, movies or go out with friends, and other times I want to play whenever I can.
Go for a walk and think for some time why do you feel like this. Is it just you being bored with this type of game or is something else bothering you.
Also it is okay to quit games when you stop having fun with them. Don't feel like you have to finish it - it is a good way to make yourself feel jaded.
Yeah i do exactly the same, I go out etc, but when i start playing again I enjoy it, but after a week I find the games monotonous again. I don't know, maybe I've been in the gaming industry for so many years that I no longer see anything as innovative.
yes, I think that's it, I've been playing for so long that maybe I'm already burned out.
Go do or play something else.
It's entertainment, not an obligation.
Personally I had a completely different idea as to where games would go in comparison to where we are now - my favorite franchise was at one point halo, then destiny, then slowly over time we saw all our favorite companies slowly but surely dissipate into shadows of their former selves.
That is the issue with video games, while we do have CONTROL of a character, we don't control the actual game universe itself - and as of right now, the majority of companies don't care about the game universe, they care about money. The reason older games like halo and left 4 dead were so successful is because back then, GAMERS were making GAMES. Now? lol. We have these companies hiring anyone and everyone just to meet a deadline, maybe 1 out of 50 employees actually has a passion coming anything close to what devs had 15 years ago.
What happened with me is that I stopped going into games primarily for gameplay, and instead am now drawn more toward the ambiance and story of games, which never lose their magic for me personally. Gameplay still matters, but it's more a prerequisite than a draw.
you are right about that
