Not quite.
It's a bit rare, but some clothes have states.

Found a bike helmet with 25 armor, and some face braindance helmet thing with quickhack bonuses.

I'm pretty sure there's a few others.

Basically, yes. Actual armour pieces do have an armour stat,..BD wreaths have a quickhack boost, balaclavas reduce your visibility, but that's about it. Use everything you don't want for crafting components, or sell for cash. This new game certainly teaches you not to lug around a huge inventory of stuff...

some cloths do give armor , or reload bonus and quickhack too.

havent seen that helmet yet

for me only "clothing" i found that had any extra? effect beyond appearance was, as you mentioned some minor hacking buff headset*

kind of silly. i get shouldnt be armor - but it does kind of take the whole point out of higher grade/rare clothing items.

i mean its not like for 99.9% of the time we can actually see them!

They moved a lot of the armor and other bonuses over to cybernetics. If you spec a lot into Tech, you get a lot of bonuses that add up on each piece.

You can also get a netrunner suit that lessens damage from hacking.

I like the old clothing system better... so we could Mod the clothing the way we want

Some dogtown retailers sell gear with stats.

i get the no armor bit - but yea i agree.

it does make the different classes of clothing kind of useless save for looks.

and even then - for the most part, beyond inventory screen - you never really see it.. so whats the point?

exactly.... ive been boggled about the whole thing for a few days now, dont know what to make of it since it doesnt make much sense lol

Aye, while I like the new system (or lack thereof) it's a strange decision since there is still no (and likely never will be) 3rd person view that's officially part of the game.

I get it that the developer wanted an immersive 1st person experience, but it's a big missing feature that we're apparently not going to get.

And the 3rd person mods are all basically junk. Sure, you can walk around but none I've seen do combat and even out of combat none are really very good in my opinion.

its supposed to be entirely cosmetic by design. that was a gripe many had at launch where you were artificially forced to wear certain types of clothing due to stats, but now those stats and armor are put into cyber ware now, and apart from several types of rarer clothing now that have stats like wearable armor or net runner outfits, its entirely for looks now

Great change in my opinion

What about transmogs? That was supposed to be a thing where the player could overwrite their gear with anything else and only affect the visual.

does that cheap shirt you got from a retailer give you any bonuses? no? didnt think so. but go to a speciality store and go buy some stab proofing and it MIGHT help. makes sense that a thrift shop shirt does nothing. think about it

thing is - beyond ones inventory screen - what is the point - one never sees it..

and yea i remember -my char on first few plays - ended up looking like some half-baked surfer/pimp wana be.. shorts, sandals, pimp coat, bike helmet.. ect

but - i'd only "see" it in a few menus.. Maybe the rare/odd cut scene - or if i looked down or something.

sure looked like a freak - but at least the rare/higher grade clothing had some well - point?

(should have just added a transmog or something
