adrenaline useless on hard and very hard ?

I playing full body, with alot of health and armor, but the adrenaline skill seems to be so useless, when I use it in full fight its like gone after 3 seconds because of getting hit, is there anything more to it that I am missing ? because on higheer diffictulty it seem to be just useless

I keep dying with roughly half life being adrenaline on Very Hard. It seems that its not draining adrenaline life before red life and I end up falling to the ground dead at 150+HP.
