Just me or does Panam’s voice actress is completely mismatched for the character.

She is a street hardened smuggler with a chip on her shoulder but the voice is literally the most bubbly, Disney read in the whole game. Most line she delivers are almost like Snow White, with this weird innocence.

Also the writing is strange. While the other characters have convincing dialog styles, hers feels like it was written by a none native speaking, as in she uses a lot of strangely proper English. She uses the word ‘moment’ A LOT. And things like, “All is clear,” or hard pronunciation of everything. Instead of saying, “Notta bad idea,” she hard pronounces ‘a’, “Not A bad idea.” The whole thing is off.

So....you don't think people in "bad jobs" don't have a persona? You don't think the persona of sweet girl can get more money or fool people?

For me I'd rather have Panam as she is than hearing a woman that's smoked for 30 years and having had way too many whiskeys =)

Well, it’s combined with the second thing I said, all her reads are so strange, she stresses weird parts of a sentence. And the writing is so off, like she doesn’t use conjunctions many times, and she says ‘moment’ constantly. It’s like someone just used a translator for her script.

I like Panams voice. That's just the way they decided the character should talk. Just because she is a merc, doesn't mean she needs to sound like she's from the streets.

She doesn’t need to sound like a smoker. I mean that she’s seems always happy, no matter the situation. Like she’s this kiddy personality but it doesn’t match the dialog.

She is written and voiced in a particular way, yeah. I've never really liked her (one scene aside) because of how she's been designed really. Always felt there's little bit too much of a checklist (probably subconscious) going on with the various elements for straight male V's romance. (Juby on the other hand...)

I usually skip the 50 hours of dialogue in the game and just cut to the chase of the 100 or whatever NCPD scanner Crackdown missions

I agree that her writing can seem awkward; I tend to combine this with how her character is also quite awkward, as well as focused and particular, and see her as somewhat neurodivergent. She speaks like she does because it's how she's wired.

For me, her upbeat manner is often facetiousness, or something between sarcasm and deadpan humor. In lighter moments there's occasional irreverence, IIRC.

I like the dynamic between female V and Panam. It's a shame that V never really has a way to reciprocate Panam's dedication as a true friend, or even properly acknowledge it.

I think they think anyone who is "rough" has to sound like they gargle cigarettes with whiskey, or somehow it's not "realistic." As if there is some mandatory vocal range for certain ways of life or jobs.
