Phantom Liberty DLC before finishing the main quest or after?
I am planning on doing a new playthrough of Cyberpunk and want to know the best way to enjoy new DLC

Should I do
1) Start Main Quest -> Start Phantom Liberty -> Finish the main quest and DLC
OR
2) Start Main Quest -> Finish main quest -> Start and finish Phantom Liberty DLC

I am wondering if Option 1 will unlock a different ending for V

There is no "best way" since you have no option but to do every single mission available and then go meet Hanako at embers. Thats the very last "mission" which takes you to the optional endings. After that you get teleported back in front of the elevator to do it again and again and again.

So, the proper order is doing whatever missions you want, then reach Pacifica > unlock Dogdown, do those missions and when everything else is done, you go and have a date with Hanako so she can stop playing the piano finally.

Keanu Reeves appears in the trailer, so it will be before and during the end of the main story.

well maybe Johnny Silverhand will not appear to you in Dog Town if you finish the main quest of the game first

You can't start the DLC quest until you've hit a specific part of the main quest.
i'm starting a new game an will do the DLC at that point, assuming that's when it makes the most sense.

I might just do the same.

Yes I know, you need to finish the Pacifica main quest to unlock the DLC
but I am wondering if starting the DLC immediately after finishing Pacifica quest would be better than starting it after finishing the base game

They have stated that it takes place during the main story and can unlock a new ending to the main story so to me that mean play before beating the game.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Oh you basically answered my question. Though, would it still work after you defeated the game, chose the option "do more gigs' , get that "hanako quest" again, en then do Dogtown?

Thanks 🙏

I played though CP2077 3 times before the Phantom Liberty DLC came out. I just read an article about the new "sucky" ending.

https://www.ign.com/wikis/cyberpunk-2077/How_Phantom_Liberty_Changes_the_Base_Game_Ending#How_to_Get_The_Tower_Secret_Ending

Maybe I'm the only one who is aggravated that instead of extending the story out. they placed a new quest chain near the end of the story that fundamentally changes everything.

So what I'd like to know is if you pick up the Phantom Liberty quest before walking into Embers (point of no return), but then can avoid triggering the new "tower" ending, and continue on with one of the original endings? Spoilers welcomed. Thanks!

The Tower ending can only be obtained through specific choices in the DLC and is only added to your available endings. The only real difference is that you can go directly to the "Ending" roof and start it instead of having to go to Embers. It does not have any combat and you get no unique items. It also doesn't reload you to before starting it meaning you should hard save before doing it and use that to continue playing the same playthrough. Other then that it's not "Sucky" it's actually pretty good, a lot of people just thought they were going to get a "happier" ending in the DLC. But as Johnny told y'all "wrong city, wrong people." I would say it's a "happier" ending then the Devil ending and about equal to the Temperance ending.

Thanks! Apologies, but I’m confused. So the choices you make in Phantom Liberty do not lock out the other endings? But do I understand you that if you choose to play Phantom Liberty, a hard save is required to get back on the path to the original endings?

***SPOILERS!***
I’ll have to research on how not to trigger the Tower ending if that is something that can happen, And if that can happen. I read the Tower ending which strikes me as completely dismal (SUCKY ;)) and I’d much rather ride off into the sunset with the Nomads and take a chance on finding a cure.

Phantom liberty does not lock out the main games endings. At the end of PL you are offered the cure. You have to make a phone call to Reed if you want to accept it. If you accept it, the game will be over. If you want to keep playing, finish open quests, or use one of the main games endings, don't call Reed to schedule the surgery. Instead go see Hanako at Embers for the main game endings.
