invisible camo
Probably a bug or something, but 'optical camo'(epic) cyberware doesnt work at all for me, at all times. Enemies even make an eye contact with my char when camo is on. any way to fix it?

Optical camo doesen't make you invisible, just harder to see. As in it takes longer for enemies to fully detect you and go into combat mode.

The different tiers of optical camo also matter, the Legendary one makes you almost invisible, the lower tier ones less so.

There is a mod that adds full invisibillity to optical camo, so that's what you'd need if that is what you want.

well i guess it should be mentioned in description, isnt it? it goes by "grants invisibility" so thats what i expected, i will have to check the time of detection but i think there is no difference and its just broken

Many people regard Optical Camo as being 'bugged'. Dunno about that, but you can improve its performance with mods.

This one addresses some specific problems. It's fairly advanced, and requires Cyber Engine Tweaks and redscript, also cybercmd if you're using REDmods. https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/3722

This one lets you adjust the duration and cooldown times...requires CET: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/4065 (I don't use this one).

This one gives you the ability to adjust the duration and cooldown times via menu sliders. It takes equal effect on all levels of OC. Requires CET and Native Settings UI: https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/7794

All of these enable you to tweak Optical Camo way up into overpowered territory. It's up to you how far you want to go. For RPG purposes, I make Rare 20 seconds effective, with a 40 second cooldown. Epic is 25 Seconds, 35 second cooldown, and Legendary 30 sec/30 sec. Also, keep in mind that you can still be _heard_ by enemies, so you should crouchwalk to stay more or less silent.

The still being heard is also an effect of the regular stuff, so either crouch walk or get the leg option that makes you silent. The cyberware option is more effective at silencing your steps than crouching, and you can move faster but you won't be able to double jump (since the two cyberware items are in the same slot) without a mod.

it works best and most efficiently when you can one shot enemies without full detection.

i don't think they'll 100% spot you though if they fire back. if you're firing multiple shots into one enemy while using it, them and other enemies will just know what general direction you're in and shoot there. at least that's what i experienced when using the legendary version.

it doesnt matter what i do, its like i dont use camo at all when they spot me, i tried crouching, mixing it with sande and other things, no effect

Honestly we don't know if it's a bug or intended. I'm leaning twords intended, because CDPR has released several patches since optical camo was included, and none of those patches changes how it works. So if they wanted to fix it, they had several oppertunities to do it already, but haven't.

Then again, there are plenty of other bugs, that we know are infact bugs, that also haven't been fixed yet, so maybe that's not saying much..

All i can say for sure is that it doesen't turn you invisible unless you mod the game.

If I am sneakysneaky, I stay undetected with optical camo on. If I'm already detected, I have to break LoS before activating it does anything. Enemies will still be able to see you if you are hostile and do not one tap them. They will also hear you walking/running around unless you lower your stomping sounds. It's really OP, kinda like tech snipers where you can pick off all the enemies before you enter anywhere.
Or sandevistan, where whenever you start getting a bit too much damage, you just push the I win button and kill everything.

I tend to always go pick up optical camo early on, because it's very useful in specific situations. But once you are in combat, it's not the tool for the job anymore.

I recommend reporting it directly to Support so they can fix it, will do the same as well;
https://support.cdprojektred.com/en/cyberpunk/pc/gameplay/issue/1784/contact-to-support

I just tested and yeah it seems to be bugged, which is weird because it used to work just fine for me in 1.6 update when I started playing. Legendary one works perfectly though.

I've been using legendary optic camo, and it seems to work as expected vs usual goons encountered in NCPD bounty missions. And now I tried the epic optic camo from Dr Chrome, and it worked much the same. Guard couldn't see me when I crouch-walked right past him to take down his buddy who was on the phone. Last guard seemed to have trouble aiming his electric baton as I crouch-walked around him. I couldn't do a takedown, but it was clear I was practically invisible to him.

I imagine the game might not be coded to stand in front of random civilians and have them react to one's invisibility though.

oh

So if you already get detected in other words it is useless?

The lesser rarity ones yes, but the legendary optical camo will turn you completely invisible, which will cause enemies to lose sight of you and cause them to shoot blindly in the general direction where you were last seen.

Very useful in a fight for a squishy character or if you wish to reposition.
