1. Set Steam NOT to auto Update - and play direct from the Game .exe or run Steam in offline mode when a patch drops - saves a Lot of heartache - there are still people on the Nexus forums trying to get their game to work after 1.62 because they just downloaded the patch straight off the bat. Once the mod authors have a chance to update their mods - you can then download the patch at your leisure.
2. For this game only - I do not use a Mod manger, manual installation all the way - too many instances of mod managers messing with file paths when installing / uninstalling mods
3. I don't use REDmod personally -but I recommend to choose either all REDmod versions or "traditional" - don't mix and match - another potential point of failure.
Modding always require a bit of effort - but there are some wonderful mods out there for this game at the moment - worth it in my opinion...
bro this is actually good advice an on point. i'm familiar with how mods run as far as updating goes from the vanilla end changing everything on the mods end.. connan exiles was my favorite game with eewa modd and age of calamity modd. then the vanilla version changed absolutely every thing about the game breaking 100's of moder's content 5 years of content to get it all swept from under them some of the greatest never returned an neither did I but console finally got a update at the cost of pc's expense but any way back to this game i installed the the mods step by step as the guide shows from the youtube link i dropped above an the first modd is cyber engine tweaks which enables the modding menu not a redmodd then the next was Accurate E3 2019 visual restoration red mod
i would probably hold off on it for the rest of the week. with cdpr showcasing the new expansion which will almost certainly feature the upcoming patch and its features as well and whatnot on the 8th or 11th, i wouldn't be surprised if they released that anticipated patch around the same time or a little after.
