Whenever I try to make a new character I flatline, but I can load old saves and play fine.
For me when I run 1.62 it crashes immediately when I attempt to launch, whether that's via the game launcher or via the .exe file directly. Couldn't even get to the title screen before I rolled back to 1.61, I spent a week doing every possible thing I could think of to fix it for 1.62 short of a full Windows reinstallation.
I have laptop with 3 years old driver update, Cyberpunk works fine before 1.62 and after.
It's not the driver update, of course sometimes It could help, but simply is their 1.62 update that is bugged.
While in my new gaming PC, Cyberpunk was working super good with 1.61, after 1.62 flatline at every launch, cannot start (tried every possible solution, still doesn't work)
I'm not sure a complete windows reinstall could fix this problem, It's just a bug after 1.62 update, that with some systems cause the crash, still don't understand why,
I have this bug, like some other people in discussions too.
Cyberpunk sadly is the only game that has this problem in my library, so just let's wait when they will fix it, because It's obvious that this bug comes with the update since there are many people that can't play without crashing.
Cyberpunk 2077 is my favorite game, so I hope they will fix this soon!
I made this discussion that could help someone: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1091500/discussions/0/3836550120033730133/
If so, rolling back with steam's console to a prior patch might be your best option to continue existing saves, or you can play a new character until CDPR eventually fixes it... Hopefully.
1st : open steam > Win+R = steam://open/console
2nd : write download_depot 1091500 1091501 5482504662439830481
3rd : wait for download (Check Task Manager If your Network is downloading just to make sure steam is downloading the update)
4rd : Delete the Actual game and Drag Drop the content from : \Steam\steamapps\content to your actual Cyberpunk 2077 Directory.
5th : disable update by clicking on cyberpunk 2077 in your library > properties > Switch Always keep this game updated to Only update this game when I launch it.
This is the only reason I've been able to play the game at all, but it's absolutely unacceptable as a permanent solution since it likely won't work with the DLC when it drops.
Sounds like you need to find the " hidden " files that mods install. Disabling does not remove the effects the" hidden " files produce. Either the mods need to be updated or delete both the mods and these " hidden" files. This topic has been done multiple times.
