Can't complete task because BD scan is too slow - now what?

I'm in the very early part of the game, in Lizzie's Bar, with the tech running Evelyn Parker's BD for me. I'm supposed to "scan Yorinobu's datapad while it's active". I've located the datapad, but the game doesn't allow sufficient time to scan it once it's been identified by the BD! I can't get out until I scan it, but the game won't allow it. I've replayed the BD several times while standing in various places, but the Visual scan never identifies the datapad soon enough for the task to be completed.

Two questions: (1) Anyone else encounter this problem, and, if so, how did you get around it? (2) Am I going to have to put up with a lot of this kind of BS throughout the game? I've been waiting literally years for this game to be playable, and I would really like to go 5 minutes without some hidden game mechanic getting in my way.

Is the game running slow for you in general ? I have done that mission several times successfully. You can run the BD back and forth with no time limits and thru the several layers to find everything you are searching for. There are also YouTube videos as well as quest walk thrus to help guide you.
What are your system specs ?

You can pause the BD and then scan it.

I could have sworn that I tried pausing the BD to see if I could scan the datapad but wasn't able to do it. I just went back and tried it again and, yep, I paused the BD and the scan went off just fine. I can only conclude that I paused at the wrong time. Finding the thermal storage under the floor was a little tricky, but that didn't take long. This was my first time in BD - I can see that there are some things I need to learn about it.!

As it turned out, it was my lack of experience with BD that was the problem. Once I figured out that I had to pause the playback at just the right spot so that I could scan it, it worked fine.
