Do I need RedMod?
I'm somewhat new to modding Cyberpunk but that was about 2 years since I last played. Now there's all these mods that requires RedMod if you installed it but there's also alternate versions of mods that doesn't require it. What exactly is RedMod and do I really need it?

There are a very few mods which do not have non-redmod versions so for those you'll need it, but when alternate versions are available it's easier to use them.

I like to use RedMod because I can easily switch all the mods off if necessary to troubleshoot or recover from a new update/Patch [rolleyes]. There are a few mods that are RedMod only...most are available with non-Redmod versions, so you don't absolutely need it. Some basic mods like CET will probably never work with RedMod.

Bottom line -- I don't find it hard to use both modding systems. It's probably the way to get the most out of modding your game.

I have 200+ mods - and I don't use REDmod, even REDmod specific mods can sometimes be used without actually having REDmod installed (basic Archive mods in any event). Your own choice really...
I have a question

I have cyberpunk but from a friend's library, is it possible that is why I can't use redmod?

It's called Vortex now. Generally, mod's will call out dependencies on other mod's/tools. I'm not sure why one would not want to use Redmod, if going mod'ing. I've kind of given up with a 'collection' being broken by the last update. The vanilla game itself is OK now, mostly??.

Only if you want to use mods via REDmod. Otherwise, you can just use archive mods. There may, as said, be a few that are REDmod only, but it's a small list.
