So not really a rpg and choices don't matter.
It’s an action adventure with FPS and RPG mechanics.
The game takes choices, actions and even playstyle into account all the time and reacts to them, but it still has a specific main story to tell, just like the Witcher 3 had.
One other thing, is this game really easy like the witcher 3, or can I expect to die moderately/frequently the first time around?
Witcher 3 only has combat in terms of challenge, but even Death March isn't difficult nor challenging at all since all attacks can be avoided or mitigated. Just slightly slower to beat.
But here depending on your playstyle, you have all sorts of interesting secret objectives and reactions by the game that make them more compelling to accomplish, especially for stealthy playstyles trying to remain fully undetected. So there are more challenges in place than just pure combat.
It is kinda similar to Dishonored series. If you go full out guns blazing, there won't really be much of a challenge in going through it. Whereas stealthy undetected playstyle is where the intricate beauty and complexity of the game thrives in.
So basically more of an adventure game like "Assassins Creed". Nice atmosphere, stories, side quests, but no real "roleplaying". I wish they wouldnt throw around RPG so liberally anymore.. I can still remember the days of "real" RPG's.
Personally I can't recommend it enough, even though there are a few bugs, while not being game breaking, they do pull you out of the story.
Right on. I will check it out when it goes on sale. I just lose some interest when a game is completely on rails with side quests. It just feels contrived.
There are a range of difficulty levels. Normal is pretty easy, IMO...I play on Very Hard. You can change the difficulty during the course of the game, so maybe start with normal and dial it back to Easy if you need to.
