1440P ultra with DLAA(RT psycho) as good as 4K DLSS quality
I just got my 4k monitor and even with my 4080 i need to use DLSS quality to get around 70/80 fps but yesterday in 1440p with DLAA i felt the game was almost as good as 4K and i was around 90 fps.
I feel DLAA is extremely good and help a lot 1440P, also less demanding than 4K.
For the ones that have the machine to run it, what are your feedback?

Interesting. I'll give it a go. I use a 3070ti and a Samsung 4K gaming TV.

What's DLAA? Is that the upscaling to use instead of regular AA techniques?
Also about how well would this work on a 3700x with a 5700XT? Because like ♥♥♥♥ am I going to buy a new GPU right now, idgaf about RT really but if I get a used 7900XT later or a like 7700XT or 6800XT or something, how good's the replayability? Because I really don't know that Witcher 3 is worth a second playthrough at all. Although in fairness 1440p without RT even is a pretty tough thing to run right? Wait hmmm I wonder can I run a passthrough somehow to outputting my GPU's rendering to a laptop display? Like can I just run an HDMI cable to a laptop directly from GPU and, nvm I just realized I'd still have to have my keyboard and mouse connected to the PC instead

Yep but DLAA is bit resource consuming and i don't think you'll run it properly with a 3700, after maybe if you make some sacrifice with RT or other set up it may work.
I will check later tuning down some set up and try to make it work for 4K as i did for 1440p.

DLAA/DLSS doesn't work on AMD.

I spent about an hour messing around with different settings and benchmarking. For me personally I was about 10 frames less so I'll stick with DLSS in balanced mode.

DLAA is not upscaling. It takes the native resolution image and (in a similar way to DLSS but without the upscaling) it uses trained AI to add more detail to it. Because it isn't upscaling it is far more resource intensive. Only available on Nvidia cards.

I dont really like DLSS, especially in this game i can notice that it looks blurry

Playing on 1440p / RTX 4080 / Max settings / Psycho RT / DLAA. The game looks good

yup fully agree - when i was playing in 1440p with DLAA game looks extremely nice.
But in 4K is not really possible or you need to accept 45 FPS or tune down some settings.
But 4K DLSS quality looks as good as 1440p with DLAA.

DLAA = DLSS 100%

DLAA AI Magic,.... Treats Native Images so if there WAS a visual indicator in the menu, it would be at Max 100% of the slider when using it at any resolution.

DLSS Quality is upscaling from 66% Native Resolution
DLSS Balanced is something like 58%
DLSS Performance is 50%
DLSS Ultra Performance is 33%
With 1080p/1440p/1620p/1800p/2160p resolutions that are available (16:9 at least) but you can do the maths on any resolution and aspect ratio.

My monitor is native ultrawide 2k / 1440p

And I wouldn't play this game any other way. More frames, plus it just looks good enough, that if you have an OLED, your eyes should be crying from the beauty
Birdy62 Apr 25, 2023 @ 3:23am
DLAA quality is really good, but it is quite heavy....

I'm picking up my 4080 today...I'm very eager and curious to see how it works.
