Female v because I like playing a female character.
The only time I played a male v was to unlock an achievement.

Male V.

Ultimately it's subjective - although I think the majority would agree with this(For the English VA at least) - but I think his VA was far better for the grittiness of Cyberpunk. Then there's the cinematics I just can't see a Female V pulling off and having as much of an impact.

There's also the bromance between V and Jackie in the cinematic(Yes, they're only in the cinematic together for a few seconds but the impact it has really drives the point across and was so well done). I mean, I remembered Jackie throughout the entire game because of the bromance and I only played with him for the first two hours of the game. It was great. You don't get that with female V.

The male V also delivers the lines far better than female V:

Female V isn't bad and wouldn't be bad but hands down male V delivers the lines much better and the voice is a lot better than female V's. Plus male V suits the tone far better than female V does.

I think this ultimately boils down to one thing: What's more popular? Statistically Male V is more popular just as the male option in all these games is more popular. The majority of people playing RPG games where choice and relationships matter will choose a character that closer reflects their own interests and that is generally male players. This doesn't apply to other games like MMO's(Where GIRL stands for Guy In Real Life; half jokingly!) or third person/first person shooters with skins; they're just cosmetic(Plus the age old argument of "I'd rather look at a female butt than a guy's butt all day" comes into play).

It was the same with Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. A lot of noise about how Kassandra was the better VA(She wasn't) and how great she was and better than Alexios the character was however over 2/3rds of players chose Alexios.

If we were to be purely objective about it I would say male V for the following reasons:
1. Better voice acting
2. Better suited for the setting
3. Jackie Bromance - You won't ever get a "bromance" between a male and female character and it makes a big difference. The bromance was also very deliberate and it added a lot to the story and relationship between both characters.
4. Cinematics. They were made with Male V, even the later cinematics for Phantom Liberty that are released don't feature one over the other. They just have a few stock lines that are played in the background and that's it.

1. Male V voice acting is fake and horrible and sounds like a bad version of Moe Syzslak from The Simpsons
2. That Panam scene in the tank was a huge let-down and just too freaking weird and was hardly a "romance" and ruined the whole sexy storyline
3. Jackie felt like a protective big brother to female V
4. Even though I am male I can enjoy playing a female character because my brain is capable of extrapolation, philosophical curiosity, critical thinking, duality and rational thought

Impressive skillset.

Then you shouldnt have a problem to reflect male players who just want to play themselves. Completely without extrapolation and philosophical curiosity.

Female, the voice acting is way better. Same with Mass Effect and Fallout 4. The male VA's for these games all sound wooden and boring like a hung over Vin Diesel nursing a bad cold with Diazapam.
Nah, male Shepard is a lot better, female is trying too hard. Male sounds like a proper soldier, but still caring when needed. Fallout 4 is debatable - generally female I agree, but male has fantastic sarcastic deliveries. As for CP77, I 100% agree, female is a lot better.

Well, my personal preference: Male V, no doubt about this.

Two simple reasons.
1. I'm a man and I can easily immerse myself into a male V, but not a female V. And immersion is everything for a rpg. Same thing with Aloy in HZD. Just doesn't work for me.
2. I honestly can't stand the female voice acting. I can't comprehend why so many people think it good, better even then the male. I find it anyoing. Aggressive. Overdone. "Lady! You need to calm down!". The male va is pretty much perfect imho.

Female. Voice actress has a much better range, plus badass chicks are badass.

In any game where I want to immerse myself into a character I want the character to be my gender. It is male V for me. The vo in player characters for this purpose are a turn off for me, so i really don`t care which did better voice acting.
