They did an update last year which added some additional random NPC reactions to violence in the streets - they can try to fight back now. And there's a few other little things which can happen.
For anyone thinking of returning to the game after years of not playing, I'd honestly recommend just checking back in after the next update (in a couple of months or so) for feelings/opinions then because it will be a big overhaul of a large number of systems (eg police, vehicle combat, improved NPC AI).
Non-combat music. I always found it to be too dull and quiet when combined with how the world felt.
I double checked to see what else had been said. "No earlier than September 9th" is the message from CDPR. (So I should have been more specific with 'September', sorry.)

I'm assuming you still can't enter 98% of the buildings, or have meaningful interactions with a similar percentage of NPCs. Do life paths have a meaningful effect on the story now? I'd have been far more satisfied if the game had been 1/10th the size, but felt alive and reasonably realistic. I'd have paid double the asking price for that version of CP2077, the version we were sold.
Pro design tip for CDPR devs. If you want to encourage players to care about collectible cars, it might be a good idea to not allow players to steal every car in sight with total impunity. Just sayin'.
