Yeah, because it's a bad idea. We already have a flying cars mod and if you use it, you'll understand right away why it has no place in the game.

Flying cars allows you to travel from one end of night city to the other in 2 minutes. It makes the world feel infinitely smaller. It removes all of opportunities to just bump into random encounters while you drive to the next location.

Yes it's true.

Flying cars have never been part of the Cyberpunk-2020 RPG (that this game is based upon), so why would you expect them in this game? That makes no sense.

AV's are part of the setting, but AV's are like Helicopters and private Jets in our world, only filthy rich people own private Helicopters and Jets, it's not something the average person will ever own.

You can easily become a multimillionaire, though, even without using hacks or cheats. I bought every car in the game just because I had the money laying around and nothing else to spend it on.

What sort of things can you spend your earned money on in-game? Besides buying new cars I mean....is there new housing or upgraded housing?

Ah too bad, but they could have made it like an end-game, or near end-game item which might make it more understandable or reasonable.

you can decorate v's default apartment now and also buy various extra apartments

collecting all the clothing in the game for transmog or crafting the best possible items near the level cap can get pricey as well

I see, sounds interesting.

I might purchase base game at half off now, and then let it sit until the base game updates come out with the DLC.

If the dlc reviews are well received than it's only $5 extra to buy the dlc at that point...I wont pre purchase anything, especially for only $5 off. If it were half off the bundle today then id buy it as I appreciate being well rewarded for taking risk.

At least there's the mod.
I was looking forward to them incorporating it into the game. But I guess they keep refusing to.

Pretty much. Although I think some players see the mod but then don't recognise that CDPR would be held to a much higher set of expectations in implementing it. From what devs have said the past few years, it's really about what doesn't get done if they were to retrofit the city to accommodate flying cars at the standard players would expect from CDPR.

The latest version Cyberpunk Red ttrpg allows Nomads to add av 4 engines to cars so technically you can have flying cars now.

It was 40% off bundle ten minutes ago in the UK, although I'm not sure when that offer expires (just checked: 18 June). Though you may be talking about the same thing with your $5 referring to the discount in the bundled version of the expansion alone.

Because flying cars is not Cyberpunk Lore friendly.
Bahamut_A6M5 Jun 13, 2023 @ 3:18am
Actually, flying cars (AV-3) are lore friendly and part of the Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0. setting. But they aren't cheap (they were 90k eddies back in the 20's), and restricted to police department (armies were intended as potential customers for the AV-3 too, but they rejected it in favor of the multipurpose AV-4).

The standard, factory-settings, AV-4 was 600k eddies back in the 20's (there was a refurbished, downgraded variant, intended as familiy vehicle for 50k eddies, but it was slow and cumbersome because of the engines downgrade).

And the luxury, high-end AVs (the AV-7 variant) were prohibitive as their price could range several million eddies for a single unit. Back then in the 20's.

Then, there's the technical issue. In order to have flying vehicles which can be piloted into everywhere the player wishes, you have to design a 3D map with hardnesses to determine collisions, where the actor can move and where can't,... It's time consuming and expensive work that would have delayed development and increased the retail price of the game.

No flying cars no dlc sorry CDPR
no flying cars ?? I didnt play the corpo to drive cars on street like some peasant srry :steambored:
Dravic Jun 13, 2023 @ 6:48pm
Cyberpunk does not feature any flying cars. AVs are not flying cars, but they are technically present in the backdrop of the game already. You can't pilot them.

You can break the lore and add flying cars via a mod:

Enjoy.
