Mantis, monowire and katana.
Soooo.. Patch 1.7 will introduce blocking shots with mantis blades and applying demons with each hit of monowire. Then it will make katana kinda pointless right? I mean katana will have little faster attack speed and finishing skill, but those 2 will be still superior. Or what is your though? I will definitely go with Knife for stealth and monowire for ultimate slash + hack in one, but do i really need katana with this new monowire?

Details are still hazy so I'd not personally try to theorycraft until we know them for sure. eg I've seen footage which suggests katanas can block/deflect bullets. (Also it was a thermal katana.)

I know for sure from what i seen and read that mantis can block bullets. If katana can do it too, it will be then superior to mantis i guess. Still my favourite is at the moment monowife. Imagine going for boss figh, first attack massive charged damage + powerfull hack on enemy as bonus.

Was just double checking. Suzi Hunter (has a small role in the expansion too) says that it's 'blade weapons' which can block bullets so I'm not talking out of my hat. :D

My guess is that the difference between eg mantis blades and katana will really come out with the additional skills/abilities from the new relic skill tree unlocked in the expansion. Be really interesting to see what those are, from the couple they've described they sound quite fun and along the lines of what you describe.

I haven't played in a little while now but it seems like the last thing they should be doing is buffing the monowire. It has a huge range, can hit multiple enemies, does massive damage, and swings just a bit slower than the katana all by itself and has acess to all those blades perks of heal on kill, free stamina... I used it the entire game.

The official footage CDPR released from Play Days has the katana also blocking bullets.

Katana was shown blocking bullets as well. Keep in mind that Mantis Blades were generally worse than katanas because they didn't scale as well later in the game. They were in desperate need of something that made them different than katanas.

I never thought a knife build would equal some of the various katanas especially when you spec for speed, like the scalpel or jinchumaru... I love the finish leap/double-stab of mantis but I could mow down endless, and I mean until they stop spawning, MaxTac with a few different monokatanas... it's somewhere around 60-80 / 2 minutes of 4-badge responding in v1.62, I mean with a sandi / kerenz and slotted for fast regen, not only a perpetual killing machine but unseen, and barely ever gets hit much less takes any damage at all killing machine, talk about cyberpsychosis.. unstoppable and no ammo to run out of. (since you can't craft during a police event, that is troublesome.)

Then you run a dual pair, the toxin legendary that has the near-instant return time in slot 1 and the ludicrous cutting speed legendary in slot 2, it's even more lethal, I'm limited by my ability to control and aim at my... hmm? targets... enemies... victims? end up slicing air a lot I probably look like General Grievous coming at you with 4 lightsabers spinning from the target's perspective.

I always thought they were just made up to have some semblance of melee variety. I was wrong. So happy I was wrong, too. :moxes:

I would love something that give some balance to the minus columns of some of these... not that they need nerfing, this only works when you do a very specialized and targeted build, but... they're all smash smash smash or stab stab stab.
