CP Liberty - What happened to the PC requirements?
So CP Liberty is an Addon, not a New Game. How is it possible, that the Hardware requirements skyrocketed so much?

The minimum Requirements of Liberty are now higher, than
The recommended Requirements of the Basic game.

Can someone explaine this to me?

It's simple, really. This time they "just" didn't lie.

I think a mix of better suited requirements but also there are rumours that the next update will come with some texture improvements (but not confirmed I dont think) but as it states there those arent the live by requirements, you can still run it on something like a steamdeck at 40fps so wouldn't consider that you *can't* run it just because yours is under just something which would be comfortable

It's a complete overhaul of the base game. Seems they're not holding back this time and finally scrapped the older generations by making it how they wanted to.

When it turns out to be good, I'll finally get it and the "wait" was worth it.

The game engine is being upgraded at the same time the DLC comes out. The DLC isn't being released on last-gen consoles, either.

Oh the game is really good. And After Patch 1.5 it runs perfectly fine between >50 and 90 fps at high on my i5 4690, RX 5700 and 16 GB RAM.

Lets See how good liberty will run on my system.

either they're adding and rehashing features that warrants more processing power (ex. enemy ai rework, enemy vehicle combat ai, dynamic events) or they're simply updating it to better highlight today's hardware. maybe its a mix of the two, correct me if im wrong.

My best guess (take this with a grain of salt) is they are improving graphics from what we got back in 2020 and this time round they are going to have a lot more going on in the world dynamically in terms of events and because of the overhaul to things like AI they’re probably playing it really safe with the system requirements so they don’t face a ♥♥♥♥ ton of backlash again.

They are just making things more in line with the hardware available today because they no longer have to optimise for those potato 2013 consoles that ran the game at 720p with an unstable 30fps. It’s clear that CPDR want to create a next gen experience and now on PC they can push it a little further with the expansion now that it’s PS5/Series X exclusive and more people out there have more capable GPUs.

But even if everything is boosted on the spec sheet it doesn’t mean the game will stop working after Patch 2.0 if you don’t have those specs but it is highly recommended.

We'll see about that when PL is released ;). I'm patient!

You do know that the minimum system requirements got increase from 10 and 12 years old hardware to "only" 6-8 years old hardware right?

I mean, if you have a 6-8 years old hardware, you have bigger issues than how Cyberpunk will run on minimum settings..

It's basically what the game should have been at release. Most people running new triple A games today obviously aren't using ancient CPUs and GPUs from years ago, hence the higher requirements.

You can still run phantom liberty with an old GTX 1060, and i7 6700 at low 30 fps. I'd say that's pretty reasonable for such old hardware. It's not like people who can't afford high end hardware are being left out.

Why the need to imrpove graphics if most people can't even run it at max with Ray tracing, are? The consoles surely can't even use ray tacing properly.

It's not only "graohics" alone, but things that are connected to that like effects --> partical filters, maybe new shaders, reflections, different style, etc...

All in all it seems they're aiming at their original vision without the limitations of last gen. They're implementing a lot of new things and as a consequence the system specs got higher.

The "need" to improve graphics wasn't first thought. More like a side effect.

I'm now worried about how my GTX 1660ti will handle the base game as well as Phantom Liberty. My current settings look really good to me, so I don't know. Not planning to upgrade my PC again.

It's a glorified tech demo for Nvidia's raytracing at this point.

Ray tracing is a fluff you enable when you have the actual hardware to utilize it properly. Ray tracing is not even a requirement to paly the game. The increased system requirements is an effect of them reworking the AI logic which use more CPU power, and since they don't need to support 12 years old hardware they can introduce better graphics for those who are willing to play on somewhat recent hardware to high-end hardware.

As i said before, if you have 12 year old CPU and 10 year old gpu, this game is not for you.
