Then ask Steam to verify file integrity, and redownload missing files.
Except some mods put custom configs in there.
Same with the engine folder. Most mods don't touch it, but some mods and their custom configs, it's a thing.
If you have terrible internet, then it might be worth trying to hunt the files down manually. Otherwise, just nuke from orbit and redownload.
Yeah they do, Stealthrunner put an Input-loader config file in there just a couple versions back (don't think the latest version does, but then we don't know which versions people have installed).
I could make a mod right now that has ../archive/pc/ as the depot path for a custom .mlsetup file, put the file in there, and release it.
It would be dumb of me to do that (and obviously i won't), but i could.
This Mod Remover batch file works great and will both delete your active mods and back them up.
When the next big patch arrives, at a guess your simple .archive mods and REDmods should continue to work. However CET and anything that depends on CET, RED4ext, ArchiveXL, TweakXL and redscript will almost certainly break...basically anything Vortex labels 'Modders Resources'. Most of these were updated and working again within a few days after the last Patch, so let's hope our Mod Creator heroes are prepared to leap into the breach once again.
For myself, I'm prepared to play the vanilla un-modded game for a week or two until things are back to rights.
