HDR is a must have for you.
After playing on an OLED HDR monitor, I can safely say nothing has blown me away and immersed me as much, not even path-tracing. Not to mention, it doesn't tank your frames, either.

I forgot HDR existed. They have that in monitors now huh? Is there something like a...curved 34 inch 1440p GSYNC OLED HDR 144hz monitor out there somewhere? Might be time to go spend mountains of money.

This is tempting. Although, not sure I really want to go ultrawide. Never used it, but I know some black bars will probably be involved...

Some research to be done.

Man figuring out monitors or even just explaining them to other people is tough.

I got a UHD 4K 144hrz gaming monitor to replace my 4K television and the difference in just how good things look is night an day.

when HDR becomes a common feature in every monitor then i will upgrade to it, in about 10 or so years when i need to replace my monitor if and only if i can afford sure a monitor otherwise my poor ass will continue to not have HDR

OP, got me a little intrigued here. Can you expand a bit on why its so much better?

HDR makes some games look TOTALLY different. HDR is a must have in "Forspoken" to truly get the fullest experience of all the magical effects popping off on screen. The greens, the blues and especially the fire spells. It's mind blowing. I used to turn HDR on and off and experiment in games and see the dif and if I liked it. Now it's always on.

Only game I don't mind it off in is RDR2. There are two modes, one is worse than the other and I remember it sounds counter-intuitive... but then also, it just... it's one of those games that HDR was added at a later point. Some of those games, HDR off doesn't bother me at all.

But some games? Black blacks and room lighting effects. Definitely get it with your next monitor if you don't have it or play around with it if you do and haven't been.

HDR is amazing with Elden Ring as well. yeah ray tracing doesn't even come close, for all that it demands from your hardware.

it is super expensive

Interesting. Was HDR finally fixed in cyberpunk? A quick google search says "no".

I found HDR in Cyberpunk to be a hot mess for the most part and incredibly bright and washed out in certain areas, sometimes it looks OK if you turn the HDR brightness way down but ultimately I ended up disabling it.

In most other titles though, yep, looks amazing.

I totally agree. I use HDR and customized the brightness and I was amazed at the beauty while still having 90+ fps on ultra settings. I have my MSI 32" curved HDR monitor paired with RTX 3070 in NVIDIA settings to ensure full HDR. Playing in 1440. No need at all for FPS killing Ray Tracing

Provided you have or want to buy a monitor that supports HDR, sure it is. I have no interest in coming any more out of pocket, so it isn't happening for me. Reshade will be about the only way that I'll get any assemblence of HDR.

In general HDR is pretty transformative for content, movies shows and games are all a lot nicer looking with it. Cyberpunk definitely is a great showcase for HDR with all the bright neon and dark shadows. It really gets a chance to show off the extra colours and contrast. After getting an oled HDR tv for the living room I needed one for my computer as well. Didn't like the monitor landscape though so I ended up using a 4k 42 inch samsung qled with 120hz 4k for my monitor. Cost way less than a 32 inch 4k monitor with similar specs.
