Seriously Vortex is a load of crap, not only for this game.
I'd recommend removing all your mods With Mod Remover (https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/8597)
and starting from scratch. Read the instructions carefully to understand the requirements for each new mod...many will need a base mod to be installed previously.
These are the base mods you will need for the large majority of mods. Download and install them in this order for best results:
Cyber Engine Tweaks
Red4EXT:
Archive XL:
Tweak XL:
Redscript:
These are more base mods you _may_ need for some mods...be sure to check your desired mod's instructions to see if they are required. It should do no harm to install them anyway.
CyberCMD:
Codeware:
Input Loader:
Mod Settings:
Native Settings UI:
YouTuber Last Known Meal has a pretty good explanation of how it all works in this video and others where he discusses mods. https://youtu.be/9lVXT0KQnns?t=1290
One mod he mentions is Appearance Menu Mod which I don't recommend for beginners...it's very powerful but you need to be pretty well acquainted with the whole process before you start playing around with it. (I don't use it at all).
Finally...NexusMods and Vortex actually work very well as long as you understand the process and keep it simple in the beginning. Mods that simply install a single archive file, or REDmod mods will do a lot for your game but are very easy to install (and uninstall) if they go wrong or don't do what you want. Good luck!
Why shouldnt he not use collections ? Vortex is a bit wonky sometimes true but a quick reinstall or setting change solves all that. Putting every mod in by itself checking all compatability is a huge pain and consumes time. If you want to spend more time playing i highly recommend using Collections. Just read the FAQ how to install and which settings to set.
Apparently there's a new small patch coming out which already wrecked some people's mods and needs to be updated before it gets working again, while others didn't even get the game update yet. So it's possible you already have the new patch and your mods are now incompatible with the game version. Wait a couple hours and hopefully there will be an update for your mods on nexus.

For addons choose what you want to change and download an addon for it, read the instructions on how to install them.
Although the upcoming Patch 1.7/2.0 is still weeks away, these days I'm checking for updates for my mods on Vortex, and Steam to see if there have been any unannounced mini patches. I do this every day when I sit down to play. Kind of a pain, but it only takes a minute or two.
if you want to rid your game of mods and start fresh then delete, archive/pc/mod, bin, engine, red4ext, r6, anything in "mods", then verify game files and launch the game at least once before installing mods again.
i never had a problem with mods following these tips.
These are valid tips. for sure. However Vortex allows you to easily check for updates, while straight manual installation does not. Once thing to do is to track the mod on Nexusmods.com...that _should_ give you notice of any updates, although I don't think it's very reliable.
manually modding is for people who know where those files are going, people who keep track of mods that constantly update, and people who know how to uninstall manually installed mods. in other words, use vortex. id also stay away from mods that are not vortex compatible as they are from a time when manual installation was the only way.
