Looking for open world games, open to suggestions of more than these. Good ones to get lost in. Hidden gems welcomed

Well, I have 350 hours in CP and only 150 in FO4, so obviously I think this here is better, one of the best.

Appart from that: Have you considered Kingdom Come Deliverance (KCD).
Realistic medieval (no magic), first-person, very immersive (got 340 hours in that one)

FO4. By a big margin in my opinion. The open world is much more so, the mods are much more capable. There's a few other differences as well. In CP2077, you aren't really playing "your" character. Much like in The Witcher, all of the story revolves around the character that Code Red made. While that's somewhat true for FO4, much less so.

So, IMO, if you're looking for an open world game with character flexibility and a lot of replayability, FO4 beats CP2077 by a wide margin. If, however, you love the cyberpunk aesthetic a lot more than the wasteland aesthetic, go with CP2077.

CP20-77 feels hollow tom in comparison with FO4.

CP2077
FO4 is more sandbox and open world with a whole lot to do however you want to do it. Building bases, Tons of mods etc. But those loading times as you progress get reeeeaaaally long even on SSD. INfact I noticed NO difference when I went from HDD to my brand spanking new rig with nvme m.2 SSD. Entering and exiting buildings becomes really painful. And there seems to be no way around it for whatever reason. The engine is seriously dated. the gunplay is to be expected from such an old engine that relies on VATS. Its fun and I put a lot of hours but CP2077 plays sooooo much better and has such an awesome atmosphere. I would definitely suggest CP2077

Oh I just noticed you bought CP2077 good choice!

Cyberpunk 2077 if you want an immersive and rich story-driven RPG experience.

Fallout 4 if you want an immersive sandbox-driven RPG experience.

Personally I have 1600 hours in Fallout 4 and I have 533 hours in Cyberpunk 2077. If I had to choose then my choice would always be Cyberpunk 2077 without a shred of doubt.

Cyberpunk.

I've never play Fall Out 4, but I have played Fall Out New Vegas. Imo, either game would likely be worth it or hey, you could wait for a sale and buy them both.

edit:
Ah, look like you already bought the game. Enjoy.

FO4 has the sandboxy elements with base building and so on. Cyberpunk has the more story driven experience. Cyberpunk was the better experience for me.

Would echo suggestions for Kingdom Come Deliverance as a lesser known gem. If the criteria is purely open world, rather than RPG, then I'd also recommend the original Subnautica for how a survival game uses the freedom to go where you please to good effect.

There's a mod to fix this. FO4 loads instantly for me now.

Fallout 4 is a pretty bad game. Sure. If you do not care about the game it might be decent. But the game constantly lies to you to make a shock reveal. The story is completely nonsensical with no sense of time or what the factions are supposed to stand for. There is plenty of things in that game that exist their only because it is for the brand. Not because they actually understand what Fallout is supposed to be. Example: Orcs, I mean Super Mutants. They have no reason to be in Fallout 4, yet they do. They are stupid and suicidal even if they shouldn't be.

Fallout4 1000 hrs
Cyberpunk 300 hrs.

Both amazing game but nod goes to fo4.
F4 has more to do and explore. It is a better sandbox game imo. You can get lost just playing the game fing around.

Cyberpunk has the much better main story and side mission. The art and designs are better. The game is cooler. The combat and char builds are better.
