don't worry about redmod, its just another tool modders can use to create mods for the game.
That's all that is needed.
I doubt you'll get a lot of agreement on what the 'good mods' are. I would suggests you look at the Modders Resources first...Cyber Engine Tweaks, Redscript, RED4Ext etc. Make sure they are properly installed and work from there. Look at the Trending and Most Endorsed and see what appeals to you. I also suggest you start with simpler mods and load them one at a time. Sometimes Vortex gets things wrong and you will have a terrible time sorting the problem out if you've loaded a bunch at once. without seeing if they take effect [or cause problems] when you start your game..
If your system is up to it, try starting out with the High-Res NPC mods by XilaMonstrr. They are simple to install via Vortex and look really great.
as for high res my system should be up to it. i'm running with almost everything maxed out now without any issues
and i definitely plan on downloading one at a time. i'm not very good with compueters so i have not downloaded a mod ever because if something goes wrong i may not be able to fix it
Also, you have to wait around 5 seconds for a download to start. But you have to stay on the page too (I forget that occasionally too lol)
There is a manual download option mentioned for STARTING downloads if you are having issues with it's auto download buttons.
As said above.
Start with Cyber Engine Tweeks. That is the basics of the basics.
When I started with mods, I grabbed basic quality of life mods first.
Wardrobe extras (14 slots for outfits rather than 6)
Extra stash tabs (gives the same tabs to your stash that your inventory has)
The Metro (NCART mod to put the mass transit system. Because I like to ride around lol)
Filter saves by type and lifepath' (push Q to filter by save type, push E to filter by lifepath)
A walking fix (stops the constant resetting of walk/jog that happens when you enter areas. There you are, just walking around. You get home and suddenly you are jogging into your stash, or your shower. Was driving me nuts, I couldn't just take a walk properly)
Here's a list to get you started. It's up to you after that:
