I recently re-watched the Game Trailer from years ago and realised who the Girl in the Trailer is... And it isn't V

A 10 year old trailer isn't the same as the current game, not really surprising is it?

Yeah, her name is Melissa Rory and she is in the game. V can actually meet her.

Go and buy something from Jinguchi, wait a couple in game days and go back. If you are lucky, a cyberpsycho will pop in and go nuts. Beat his sorry chromed a$$ and MaxTac should turn up to 'finish the guy off' (if V does not manage it, just dodge and heal and hopefully they will get there in time. But ya might as well take some of his hp off)

One of the officers there is a woman with mantis blades. That's Melissa.

Unfortunately that Mantis blade girl in the trailer still doesn't look anything like the one in the game now.

I would even say.... somebody just assumed she is the same.

Yeah, Video came up on YouTube, and suddenly the penny dropped. I'd completely forgotten about her. Is her being in the game just an Easter Egg of do you think there will be future DLC working with her...?
I have met her, and learned about her past, but that is it.

She's nobody specific though, as many NPCs in the game have detachable facial cyberware. In Edgerunners there's also Kiwi, who doesn't have a mouth and wears a faceplate as an extension instead.

He's Ozob, a play on Bozo the clown. He's one of the more fun characters in the game, IMO.

Nah, it's been confirmed by some of the devs that it was an easter egg. Not searching through all of Sasko or Tost's streams to source that though.

I believe it is the Shop Keeper that tells you about her past. And that was how I made the connection

Yeah, the dialogue should give you enough to make the connection but the person I quoted was questioning whether it was just an assumption from that. Obviously it isn't when devs confirm it's a deliberate callback to that first teaser.

Ozob isn't just a play on bozo tho.
Ozob Bozo is (as far as I know, at this time) the LAST of the Bozo's.
They were a poser gang from back in the 2020's. And yes, they used to get a sculpted to be clowns, even to the feet.
The Bozo's started out with simple pranks. Pratfalls, ladder shows ect. All the standard stuff...
Then, they went sinister. Started killing, stalking ect. Sending their targets insane. Patient, the Bozo is. (Lol)

Ozob's currently the only one left, must have joined young, before they started to decline.
And his nose isn't just a red grenade joke. All Bozo's used to have themselves wired with explosives connected to a dead man's switch in the biomon. They die, you go BOOM! too lol. His nose might be connected to that aswell.
