Melee-based Enemies Blocking
I came across a video on Youtube the other day. I saw a Tyger Claws Adept who was able to block some katana strikes from V, I wonder if enemy melee blocking is an actual feature of this game or if it is modded because I've been using katana a lot to fight foes and not a single time that they are able to block any of my strikes, which makes a 1v1 katana combat too easy. I know that we can block or even barry attacks, but what about the enemies using melee weapons and doing the same thing? Thank you chooms.

I saw it recently with a bulky Tyger Claw who was using fists, with no mods. I didn't check what their title was.

If an enemy blocks your katana strikes without taking damages, the enemy must have gorilla fists. Otherwise, your game is messed up.

Blocking is a normal feature of the game, for both enemies and V. Enemies who are in the middle of an animation can't block, and power attacks can guard break. This is all covered in the combat tutorial before the first real mission.

I guess you are talking about fist melee, because yes I do notice and witness npcs blocking my fist attacks, but not a single time that they do it with their melee weapons such as katana, you may refer to this video for some clues, the part that the player fought the Adept guy at 0:45.

Yeah, I was surprised, it's not very common I think for enemies to use fists. My V was using the Scorpion knife against what I think was a group in a lower level zone, and when the fist user didn't go down in a few seconds I stepped back and almost switched to a fists but used a ranged weapon because the other Tyger Claws had guns still. If the fist user didn't move as slowly as I think the fists animation locked them into they would be a little bit more challenging, it seemed like the fist user was moving only slightly faster than npc walking speed. after stepping back. IIf that particular template or whatnot of fists user could jump 15 feet towards the player quickly or super speed towards you that would be neat. I use the charge jump to land next to or on top of npcs for example, with a strong melee attack readied, especially when there is cover in between that can be jumped over. It doesn't seem to be interrupted much, unless I hit some of that accursed barbed wire; maybe the jump could fail for the npc if it takes some amount of damage midair or be able to be interrupted for a short window upon landing if it turns out to be too useful for an npc like that to high jump next to the player. It could be irritating if it stuns or knocks down for example. For that though I think it would be neat if they sometimes did a body slam that knocked both the player and the big fist user guy down as long as it's fast and not likely to OHK the player, because that would probably be pretty slow and easier to avoid.

The tutorial before the first mission has dudes with katanas that block. At least on very hard.

So it seems to be a bug that no one knows how to fix it :( so bad though, the game would be so much more challenging and fun if somehow AI could block some melee weapon attacks.

Chrome vs. Cold Steel, baby.

Let's see how it works out for 'em.
