Not seen anything officially confirming any new things coming with the expansion so I'd not set my heart on anything in particular though.
Yes, any changes to the game like an expansion or a patch or a DLC will most likely break mods.
For example 1.61 broke about 30% of my Cyberpunk mods (I had 130+ mods at that time).
If you mod your game (any modded game really), it is important to set the condition in Steam for the game NOT to auto update.
The strategy is that once an update drops, you set Steam to run offline until such time as the mod authors have a chance to update their mods.
Cyberpunk modders are pretty good at this, for 1.61 within 2 weeks or so all affected mods that I used were updated.
Of course, depending on the changes a few mods may no longer be required - because CDPR introduce something that replaces the mod, again this window of offline Steam gives you a chance to check what mods you can safely remove.
Mods always require a bit of effort on behalf of the user, but well worth it in my view...
In laymen’s terms: “Your child is your responsibility.”
Personally, I'm considering just deleting all my mods and adding them back in as the Mod creators update their work. Since my mods are mostly look-and-feel they don't make a lot of difference to the game, esp. the early game. Having new Patches and DLC means time to start a new game, IMO.
Breaking vanilla save games would be bad. Breaking modded save games is almost a given if it breaks the mods used for the save game.
