Is getting to 18 in Technical worth it?
So, I noticed that it says in the technical tree that PERK 12 unlocks legendary weapons and clothing. But I'm sort of confused by this, since there is talents at 18 that unlocks legendary crafting. And another talent that unlocks the ability to upgrade weapons and clothing to legendary.

Are these talents redundant with that level 12 perk unlock?

I dunno, I did a Netrunner Build with 20 body, 20 intel. Debating going for 18 technical 10 cool, or 12 technical and 16 cool.

Is going for the legendary pain editor and legendary resistance worth losing the 18 to crafting mods?

Technical 18 is only worth it if you craft or if you exclusively use tech weapons. If you have no interest in either of those, then it's not worth it.

I'm trying to optimise my stats.

I don't know the depth of what I'm losing if I don't go past lvl 12 perk. I am assuming I am losing access to legendary mods for clothing.

So, I'm questioning my options. It's between getting the Legendary Cataresist and Pain Editor with increased quickhack damage and crit damage from Cool talents.

Or getting added armour from Technical Tree and added armour from Legendary Armadillo.

I think the damage will be worth it to go Cool, but I'm just hoping 12 perk in technical will be enough to get the legendary stuff I want.

I think you need to separate upgrading and crafting, they are different.

There is no ability that unlocks the ability to upgrade all weapons and clothing to legendary.

They either can be upgraded or they can't, but you do need 18 to make those few legendary items that can be crafted to a higher level.

There are a couple of items that don't need 18 tech, mostly the clothes you get from your stash at the start, an outer and inner torso, they need upgrading 12 times to become legendary.

Also I'd like to add to the above:

- You don't need crafting unless you want to min - max your character. You will need legendary mods to max your character and blueprints to unlock crafting for mods. If you want to go the crafting route.
- You don't need the 5% armor and damage bonus from the crafting tree. Armor is simply low in this game now and 5% won't matter. Weapons can simply be bought legendary when available, you don't need to craft them and don't need the 5% bonus, it won't make a significant difference in your damage..
- You will need crafting at 18, if you want to upgrade iconic weapons.
- Leveling tech will waste points that could be used in other attributes. Be sure that you want to go the tech route.

Up to you.

I find the extra 24% damage on legendary weapons with legendary crunch useful.

It unlocks the recipes not the ability to craft them. you will need 18 to actually craft legendary gear

I don't think there is a lot of difference between legendary and epic. for legendary items alone are not worth it.
However, if you intend to use tech weapons, it is very worth it. The last few perks in the engineering tree are ridiculously powerful.
If you want to do the secret ending, I would highly recommend maxing out tech. You need all the armor you can get plus it makes fights much easier.
In my opinion crafting is more for iconic weapons than regular ones. Otherwise you have to wait to do the quest that gives them until you're high level or they'll become obsolete quickly. As for 18, feels better to me, but compared to epic it's not a huge difference, a mod slot and a bit more dps, so I guess it's not all that important. Think there's a couple that start epic so you'd need 18 for them but all the ones I can remember off the top of my head start rare so crafting epic would be enough to update them.

Of course you could just upgrade them regardless, but since the cost basically doubles every time you upgrade it gets pretty absurd if you can't reset it by crafting the next tier up at some point.

Oh, and in regards to the unlocking legendary at 12 skill levels, that just gives a bunch of legendary crafting blueprints. Pretty sure you still need the perk to actually craft them. Though I'm not positive of that.

IMHO yes and if anything the game kinda forces you to get 18 tech for crafting legendary weapons and armor which inherently are better cause of the 10% boost they can get but to kinda cheese money by just making legendary gear and then selling them for a profit.

Along with getting 18 in cool just due to how stupidly OP cold blooded is.

gear can still be upgraded to player level though. normal gear you can find stuff but is rng and gold a lot more rare as one would imagine.

I often go to Level 18 in Tech because i like my weapons maxed and leveled out.

Tech is actually one of the most important perk tree, especially for beginners. Don't forget that aside from crafting, upgrading, tech weapons, and grenades, it's also useful for opening some doors or turning off cameras and turrets if you don't have high enough Intelligence.

The true waste of points is Reflex. If you're not into Blades / Monowire / Sandevistan play at all, don't level it up at all!

Just get good at shooting!
