What is Dying Night good for?
Just curious because I've seen people really praise this for a pistol build, and the only thing I can see that makes it different is the +300% headshot? Early on you can find scrap pistols with better base damage than it has, so I don't really see what the benefit is. I thought, given some things I'd read, that it was a good starter pistol. An easy to obtain iconic that can carry you through the early game. But I found better damage pistols (like twice it's damage value) in minutes of playing and doing NCPDs.

There seem to be WAY better regulars and other iconics that you can use. So for real, what is the actual benefit of this pistol? Stealthy Pistol Assassin Build I guess? Slap a silencer on it and you can still do massive headshot damage?

Iconic equipment can be upgraded to Legendary and to max level.

So Dying Night can be used throughout the entire game, gain maximum number of mod slots and its headshot damage is pretty great in my opinion.

Dying Night starts out meh, but if you invest in handguns, ricochets (tech) and upgrade it to 50 and legendary version it's actually pretty good.

It fires fast and reloads fast.
With a max crit build it gets tons of legendary Short Circuit procs/sec which makes up for the low non-headshot damage.

It makes winning the shooting contest trivial. Other then that I don't use it as it burn too much ammo and I'd rather use my Russian Guass Revolver.

I use Dying Light to win Wilson's shooting competition...you get a better Lexington pistol out of that.

This. If you've a steady aim, you can fill a head with the full cartridge. Especially early game, you can keep an enemy stronger than you staggered until it dies or recharge the weapon before they can shoot back at you.
There are better pistols? Yes, of course. Among many, I’ve been impressed by the Lizzie with my tech/netrunning build (I’ve deleted the armored cyberpsicho on very hard with a single burst of 2nd fire). But especially on the beginning, accept no substitute than Dying Night.

I use lizzie's gun for the shooting contest, since it's not about damage, just rate of fire. I never really liked Dying night.

Since several of you have commented on the shooting contest, is there some extra reward if you get 100/100 score? Best I've done is 70+ with a basic semi, and I still easily won and got the legendary pistol.

No. Even if you get 100/100, the prize is always a legendary lexington.

I thought dying night had a faster rate of fire since it's fully automatic.

Dying night is automatic, Lizzie's fires burst of shots. One you can hold the trigger in and spray the target with bullits, the other gets multiple hits off with one press of the trigger.

Both works in winning the contest.

In straight up combat i'll prefer Lizzie's because its quite a fun gun to use.

it is iconic it has a unique skin. like other weapons it can be upgraded you will need to match it to other lexingtons for dmg and the like(they do not show their current level though). quality(color classifications) only let you add more mod slots as far as i can tell so you may find whites that are better than blues for instance. iconic you can stick to if you put point into crafting for being able to craft the higher qualities as they can be upgraded through those tiers and all weapons can be crafted and up graded but you can not upgrade their quality.

I am playing a ricochet build and it is probably the best power weapon for that in the very early game.
