no lie, F ALL OF THEM.
Yes, the game doesn't give you the typical hollywood endings. I found this refreshing although I admit I was disappointed as well. Perhaps the coming expansion will change this.
V dies the moment he gets a bullet to the head from Dex. This is the end of many classic CP stories. However he comes back as a revenant in essence (he had to die to activate the relic to begin with so that is not a death sentence, but borrowed time). His chosen path is coming to terms with death itself. I think this theory is reinforced by Misty's tarot reading as among many things she reads about a great transformation, which is death.
Nomad ending: V comes to terms with his death and chooses to live the rest of his days and die truly free and among friends and family (for a good reason this one is seen the "best" for many albeit it still has many bittersweet elements).
Legend ending: V comes to terms with his death and lives the rest of his days as a true Legend of NC and go out with a boom. This is what Jackie dreamed of and is ultimately not a bad deal for many.
Arasaka ending: V refuses to come to terms with his death and betrays everyone and everything in order to get cured. When this fails he either begrudingly accepts his fate, remembering everything he left behind (the Earth where his friends are) and sings never fade away as he walks to the elevator. Or he makes a literal deal with the devil selling his soul in order to get a shot at immortality. If you have chosen to save Takemura it is a lot less miserable, albeit still pretty "bad ending", though I would argue that depending on many factors it is not AS bad.
Temperance ending: Others call this a buddhist ending for a pretty good reason. V comes to terms with his death and offers redemption for Johnny living on in his memories. Overall it is pretty nice, selfless and not too bad as far as endings go. It gets significantly worse if you romanced someone as Johnny being still somewhat of a ♥♥♥♥ refuses to elaborate before he leaves NC.
Suicide ending: Yeah well... this one obviously is the most nihilistic of it all. V comes to term with his death and feels powerless to decide a path and goes out without even trying. It is important to have this option in a sense as we as players learn that Johnny would not taken V's body even if it meant his own survival (in a sense as he is a self-aware relic).
