Cyberpunk anime serie - opinions

I stopped watching after episode 5 or 6
It went absurd and stupid.
What do you think?

While I have my biases on anime these days because honestly, a crash is likely coming at some point again... I put Cyberpunk Edgerunners in the "watch once" category and bin it after that. While it was alright to me, and certainly different, I didn't find it that compelling to want to go back to it again.

What really didn't help was I usually watch anime in subs with JP audio, but everything I found about the anime was that it had dubtitles instead. I don't do dubtitles. So, I had to watch it with the English VA and while most were not bad by any means, Rebecca's on the other hand... was kinda ear-grating.

Luckily for me, I wasn't hyped for the anime, not in the least. Was just something I had a little interest in and would check out at some point. And when I did, meh, it was alright. But like I said, it's a watch once and bin afterwards because there's nothing about it that would make me want to see it again really. (and I do go back to some old anime from time to time to rewatch series - so, if they make it that far in my book, they hit a winner with me)

It was great in my opinion. I would by a game or dlc with Becca in it TBH.

Does the anime feel anything like the game? The trailer just gave me the vibe it was just another anime filled with the usual anime tropes but with the Cyberpunk skin.

To me it was like if the Jackie + V montage was a whole show but with anime characters.

IMO, the anime felt within the game's universe to tell it's own story before V did his/her thing in Night City to make a name for themselves.

But it's nothing to write home about really.

I don't really watch anime, but I thought it was pretty awesome. I do wish it had spent more time building the characters though; as soon as you start to care about them, they get killed off.

It's good. I think the impact of the story doesn't hit until you've finished it; overall I felt like it was one of the better stories told in Netflix anime. Initially I hated the art style, but it grew on me.

Pacing was a bit out there and there could have been more time spent on character development, but only so much you can squeeze in 10 episodes I suppose.

can't disagree with that, wasn't until around ep8 i was like 0k this is starting to show promise and i want more.

then you were not paying attention at all and watched your own show in your head... the one reprieve in the story line was that it had absolutely nothing to do with Jackie, V or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Johnny Silver. Honestly everything about the anime made me want to watch the series again.

On the other hand, nothing about this game has made me inclined to WANT to finish it, even once.

I got this game when it came out and gave up due to all the technical issues. The anime gave me context and even hyped me up to try this game again. I thought the anime was pretty good personally. Its the story of David Martinez so i hope it continues honestly.

unfortunately cdprojectred said there wont be a season 2.

The pacing felt off, it needed to be spread over more episodes, but otherwise good. Not like Arcane good, but better than 90% of what's out there, especially anything based off a game world.

If "I Really Want to Stay at Your House" isn't a gut punch to hear after watching it, your Humanity is low and you might be turning into a Cyberpsycho :p

I didn't say it was Jackie and V, I said it was like them, because the whole show is the characters getting into/causing trouble.

Both MCs meet up with their new best friend because <circumstances>
Both get into crazy ♥♥♥♥ with new friend
Both lose their new friend tragically
Both have tech that is slowly killing them
Both go up against Arasaka and get screwed over

It was alright.

If you played the game before, you kinda know what's gonna happen next or least have an idea. But if you haven't, it's quite a spectacle albeit a bit short. They haven't showcased most of the gangs, personally, I'd like to see an episode of an Aldecaldo chase mission in the Badlands or maybe some sick custom cars/guns.

The good thing the anime showcased is some weaponry, cyberware, some day to day life and how it feels to live in night city if you're at the ground level, some background on how fixers do their thing too.

A few things I wished they tackled on is how ripperdocs integrate cyberware into your body.
We only see a few clips of David getting sliced on the table but nothing more.

Overall, I didn't feel much about the characters as most of their background story were brief, nothing too in-depth about them really.
