Should just be under Graphics options. If it's not showing for you, not sure why.

The setting is called RT Lighting, and Psycho comes after Ultra

Dont bother with the two pyscho settings in graphics they kill your fps big time.

That's because Ray Tracing requires also fast CPU, especially with DLSS enabled too.
I'm playing in 1440p maxed out RT Psycho with 60 fps just fine and since it's not Counter Strike I don't really need more even if screen support more.

It is only handled by the GPU.

Ray tracing is done through the GPU. having a fast CPU is necessary, yes, but not nearly as much as a fast GPU. I wouldn't recommend anything less than a 3070 if you are running any raytracing in cyberpunk above 1080p unless you are fine with DLSS and lower framerates

Ray Tracing at Psycho is beast. Brings even a 3090 to it's knees at 4k unless you set DLSS to performance and even then you'll only be hitting around 45-50 fps. at 1080p or 1440p though much more feasible. The difference in looks between ultra and psycho though is pretty small.

I run rtx on ultra with all settings, on custom linux via proton GE, and it runs better than it does on windows

and i'm only on a 2070super. 3900x for the cpu doing some lifting for the gpu though. This is done @ 1080p though. 60fps or more. Usually ~74

Before, I could not do this with windows. I had rtx on low or off and it looked like ♥♥♥♥

I think there's a huge difference when it comes to bloatware added into an OS

cpu speed for ray tracing is super important along with ram/vram size and speed the gpu cant be slowed down most of the math is done on the tensor cores but it is still gonna need to pass this back and forth with the cpu at some points meanwhile that gpu be waiting and storing more info till its ran so yes faster cpu means faster output of gpu workload figured that would be common sense tho guess not

“Path tracing”, and “ray tracing” are 2 different techniques that both aim to do almost the same thing so it’s one or the other. Path tracing is superior to ray tracing. Path tracing takes into account indirect lighting as well as direct lighting where ray tracing only accounts for direct. The option to increase or decrease the ray tracing (to high, psycho etc) will only appear if you turn off path tracing.

latest and most advanced ray tracing mode in Cyberpunk 2077 is indeed called "Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode"

Don't try to be a tech if you're just not it. Go back to gaming boys. Dad is making supper.

I don't have the Overdrive option, just max Psycho.

I've known about the Overdrive option from reading here and such, but I thought it only showed for people with compatible hardware, like some of the other graphics options. Or should I've been able to see this option?

I'm happy with Ultra, though, even though GeForce Experience recommends Psycho.

I'm mainly curious if Overdrive is 'missing' for others with the same graphics card as me and lower?

I'm on an RTX 3070 Ti, rest of specs in profile.

As I was explaining, psycho mode is the old name. The new name is now ultra drive. The main feature is path tracing being very tough and extreme on the GPU. Psycho is the name from an old version of the game. Update to the latest version replaced it by the name ultradrive. It’s one or the other. Always better to have the most up to date version. Better to have at least a 4070, path tracing is so taxing.

I'm confused by this too.

I DO see an option for ray tracing overdrive or something like that. But it's unclear whether or not this is applying if you put on Custom settings, which I do in order to force DLAA.

It's very odd how lots of the ray tracing related options simply disappear when you enable the overdrive preset. They ALSO disappear when you set it to Custom.

So on Custom settings am I benefiting from overdrive or not?
