Netrunner question
I am at lvl 5 currently. I guess, short circuit is the mod to go for damage? I want to stealth kill people, but my damage right now is terrible. So, what can i do to get stronger fast?

Yes, some have Body or Reflex requirements. I'm currently running a legendary without either requirement. Your build will determine what you can equip, so "best" is relative.

Cyberdecks can only be bought from ripperdocs. The "best" one is the Netwatch Netdriver because it allows quickhacks like System Reset, Short Circuit etc. to hit three enemies at once instead of just one. Another good option, depending on your playstyle, is the Tetratronic Rippler. Those are the only two legendary cyberdecks i would use, the other ones aren't nearly as good, at least for me. You need 40 streetcred in order to buy a legendary cyberdeck.

Contagion is the only damage dealing quickhack that spreads to more than one target. However, that quickhack was nerfed because in the past it was basically the only quickhack you needed to use to kill your enemies. If you want to mainly use Contagion than i would suggest to use the Tetratronic Rippler because the reduced upload time and the reduced cooldown time for your quickhacks works really well with it.

Edit: To correct wearthekilt, cyberdecks do not have an attribute requirement. Other cyberware does have attribute requirements like int, strength, body, cool or reflex but cyberdecks don't have any of those.

I use the Netwatch Netdriver and with a couple of the right perks contagion can spread seven times. With the perk that does double hacking damage to unaware targets this is good enough to take out an NCPD assault in progress job with one use and can clear out gigs from the next rooftop over in a couple of uses. This is in the current version of the game, the only thing I think they nerfed from previous was that with good enough ping you could "see" enemies through walls and hack them.

A lot of the info on this topic is good. I think it would help though to post an endgame build to show what you should be aiming for, as a late game stealth netrunner/spy/agent build. That way you don't waste money and attribute points on things not needed.

General focus of my build: Mostly Quickhacks, Cold Blooded (quickhack/melee/general buff perks), Ninjutsu (quickhack/stealth/poison/melee perks) with monowire as secondary weapon to hacks. Then some Blades (for monowire), Breach Protocol, Crafting for legendary quickhacks etc.

Combat style: Pop off sonic shock + reboot optics from stealth, followed by contagion which should essentially disable everything and then mop up with silent AoE attacks from a chem damage Monowire (if required). I up my crit chance as much as possible to trigger cold blooded stacks on crit with Monowire, Contagion or other quickhacks. Best part is that all the damage is non-lethal, silent and undetectable due to perks/legendary hacks and cyberware. Great for achieving optimal "covert" roleplay mission completions.

Attributes: 20 Int, 20 Cool, 18-20 Tech (I go 18), 8-10 Reflex (I go 10 for heal counter attack), 3 Body

Netrunner Netdriver MK5: For Reasons stated above its the best because it makes all offensive quickhacks area of effect, while increasing their effect area greatly. Your perks should take care of quickhack cooldowns to the point you can cycle through hacks continuously.

Contagion - Legendary: Still your everything quickhack. It won't wipe out an entire base from the street anymore, but will still easily wipe out surrounding and engaged enemies. It's legendary version allows all offensive AoE quickhacks to spread 1 additional time (which when combined with our cyberdeck, is all of them).

Short Circuit - Legendary: A quick direct damage hack that when upgraded to legendary, applies the tier one effect (damage) to any weapon on crit. This includes unarmed for super high fist damage. I really like the shock on crit for Monowire because of its very fast AoE attacks. Hard to resist if not best in slot.

Reboot Optics - Legendary: Great for disabling ranged enemies and hiding. It also adds the optics jammer daemon for free. Combined with Vulnerability+Total Recall daemons, you easily qualify for the "three daemon or more" breach perks without investing into the less useful daemons.

Sonic Shock - Legendary: Like Reboot Optics, its great for disabling enemies especially in combination with the former (enemies are blinded AND deaf). More importantly, this quickhack prevents the enemy from being able to communicate with others when upgraded, meaning enemy netrunners won't hack you, nor will the base be alerted to your quickhack usage. A lot more important after the contagion nerf.

System Reset - Legendary: Ultimate quickhack that makes an enemy unconscious. Useful for an auto disable/win, but we really want it for the legendary passive. Each enemy defeated reduces ram cost by 1, stacking 6 times. So in large fights we basically will have free quickhack usage.

Ping - Legendary: Useful for scouting an area. We can't hack enemies through walls anymore, but we still can hack devices through walls with legendary version. Which means we can take control of computers etc. and then hack enemies with them instead. :p

Thanks for the answers.

Does your characters quickhacks damage scale with your level? Because just for trying, i am in heywood at the docks and try to kill that cyberpsycho phillips. But even tho i have a epic deck and legendary short circuit / overheat, he takes almost no damage from it. I am level 19.

The way i deal with Cyberpsychos as a Netrunner is simple: during the early levels i use Cripple Movement to lock them in place, then start shooting. Later on you can also use Cyberware Malfunction or whatever that quickhack is called. I don't remember if System Reset works with them but it should. So System Reset is the cheesy, easy way to do it. Most of the time i just hit them with Cripple Movement or Cyberware Malfunction and start shooting. With a weapon like Lizzy or the Widowmaker it doesn't take long.

I don't believe so, but you can craft upgraded quickhacks that do more damage or have increased effects for non-damaging hacks.

The bad side of this is: when i leveled up Ping to legendary enemies have the ability to detect the Ping scan and get alerted. So i didnt use Ping anymore while using it in whole game for stealth play.

Short Circuit Legendary however is overpowered even on Hard. Everyone, even robots and drones explode and died immediality LOL

Then i do something wrong, because my damage is nowhere near 15-20k with it, like the guy in the video with the netrunner build.

Not sure what did the trick, maybe it was a perk in quickhacks, maybe other perk for extra damage. Maybe a upgrade craft. I have uninstalled the game yesterday since i completed the game 100% so i cant look for myself.

Edit: i remember i wear netrunnersuit under my clothes, it give me some extra damage or protecting? Also i am sure i have enabled perks to carry over quickhacks to more enemies at once while they are grouping togheter.

Levelling does increase your damage if you level up your Int stat as quickhack damage is linked to Int. You also get more ram, which means at higher levels you will never run low on ram again.

Yes, as far as crafting goes, but don't forget that there are perks that can boost that damage even further.

I would not worry about damage numbers from a youtube video. You know you have enough damage when your enemies die faster than flies.
