You do know that most games will have a "how to play" tutorial integrated into the start of the game ... right? It's not like some games that take 30 minutes and tons of chatting, unlike this one where you fight how you want and the tutorial is minimal unless you use the shard in the car.
This is one of the better tutorials on how to play and if you're whining about that... wait until your first time with the Brain Dance tutorial.
BD wasnt so bad, and while the story is fun and all, I was really hoping to play around in the world without advancing the story. There does not seem to be a way to stop following a quest, as in to follow none at all. Feels a little more open now, just started act 2. Tutorial elements woven into the story mode start were mundane and poorly chosen imho. Especially when player has already elected to skip such things. BD was worthy of a tutorial. Opening a backpack isnt.
Bruh it takes at most an hour/an hour and a half to finish act 1 even if you're exploring everything.
Then you are in the open world. You don't want to go to the other parts of the city as there is nothing for you to do there yet, attack anything and you will die, quickly.
The chip tutorial does help you if you are brand new to the game.
Real open world starts 4-6 hours in game depending on your playing speed.
Edit - I'm not saying that every fast travel point in the game will be lit up all over the map. One or two fast travel points will be available in each major district to which you can fast travel to from Japantown. And you don't need to use fast travel if you don't want to. Just walk or drive into any district you want. And you can unlock many other fast travel points during free roaming.
But it's mainly good for exploration right after open world is available. It won't help much with the story and mission progress of course. I play games mainly for the graphics so I was eager to free roam the whole open world to see the structures and landscapes. The downside is a lot of interior areas of buildings are closed until some more missions are done further in Act 2. And even a few small exterior land areas may be blocked off until more missions are done.
A normal player like most in this forum would've been into the missions and not even realized exactly when they got access to open world free roaming. But I was so eager to get to open world, that's why I gave such a detailed description of the moment open world starts in the third missions of Act 2.
it depends on the difficulty set, if set to easy sure you can speed through act 1 but it takes setup time for the character if playing on hard or very hard
