Whats the best way to remove mods?
do I have to do a clean install or can I just verify game files or something?
I'd rather not have to go research and figure out where everything is installed

I guess it depends on how the mod actually functions and whether or not you had to overwrite some game files for example? I mean, if you don't have backup copies of the original files then I guess a re-install or verification is the only way...

I Just delete the mods files from where you installed them. If you still have the rar file you can where find where the files are installed.

well "research and figure out where everything is installed" first if you put mods into game by hand then you must know where is all , second if you use vortex i think you can click on mod and open folder and last options go to nexus of that mod what you get and on 90% mods have wrotet where is that mod aka where put that mod so go there and delete file
Nope Oct 10, 2022 @ 3:16am
If you use Vortex then just deactivate it, vortex doesn't install the mod directly to game folder but link them to it so you don't need to delete anything, just deactivate the mods in vortex
If you install it manually then you must know what's what already, so delete what you know where, then verified game cache. Otherwise nuking the whole game folder is your other option

I did it all by hand but that was a little bit ago, I'm just looking to go back to vanilla and play for a bit before I take a break until phantom liberty comes out, just don't want the files fishing around and wiggin out the game in future.

2 choices.
First, remove every mod by hand, if should be pretty obvious where they are installed. There is like 3 variations. archives, scripts and plugins.
Second, nuke game folder and install from the beginning.
I would personally recommend you to learn how cyberpunk mods work in order to make whole process of modding the game easier in the future, and not reinstalling game every time you want vanilla experience or when you f*cked up with mod install.

If you want to be lazy then just delete the entire folder and reinstall

yeah there is like 5 folders you have to delete. r6, red4ext, mods, 'bin/x64/plugins', 'archive/pc/mod' IF for whatever reason you delete something you were supposed to then you can verify the files in steam. (if you dont delete those files first then verifying wont do anything because the files are still there.)
yeah did that and verified 4000 files, now game launches then crashes when I try to press space at the menu.
idk I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it somehow with only 6 mods, gonna reinstall lol

i did the same and now i cant play the game anymore (reinstalled it several times now and it still doesn't work)

There is switch to enable/disable mods' in the game launcher, next to the play button. Try the disable mod position.

The thing is that steam always reinstall the game with all the mods and scripts you had when you unisntalled it.. People saying "just rememeber what mods you had and where they are" bruh i insstalled them like 8 months ago how tf yo uwant me to rememeber every little config file hidden everywhere

And now i can't play because "game is missing scripts" and even after updating red4x, ArchiveXL and tweakXL it still doesn't work

I veryfied game files like 8 times at this point but it still doesn't work because it DOESNT WANT TO MAKE A CLEAN INSTALL WHY

It would only do that if you were subscribed to mods through Steam Workshop. And Cyberpunk isn't on Steam workshop so that is not what is happening. If the mods are still there when you reinstalled that is because you did not remove the files. Uninstalling the game would not remove the mod files as they are not a part of the Steam install. You added them separately.
