They already said its going to be an original story so all adaptations are out the window.
My guess would a present day espionage thriller.
Do you know one single thing about Jordan Weisman? Did you ever meet or talk to him? Did you ever play Shadowrun? Have you ever even seen the books or sets, not in pdf form? What about the Harebrained Studios computer games. did you play any/all of them? Wait are you under 40 and grew up with a cell phone in your paw? Your opinion is very tainted if you did.
Whether or not he hates MPondsmith for "ripping off" Shadowrun, whether or not he's mad at the universe for not making the Battletech Pod Center concept take orr (which is ironic because with the hardware we could make a mech simulator with today, holy hell I want to play one!), and whether or not he hates FASA/Activision/Microsoft for essentially doing an end-run on him with Mechwarrior...
None of that matters.... why?
YOU DIDN'T READ ANY OF CD PROJEKT'S COPY ON "HADAR"
They freely state Hadar will be developed entirely in-house with an original foundation and story, and that the game will be them entirely and from scratch, referencing no source material, but 100% their own IP... no licencing, smart move!
I would love to see JW's Shadowrun, I wanna play a corp dragon overlord controlling the little runners in a Mech Commander style play, not playing some down-on-his-luch Shaman living in the ruins with not 10 nuyen to rub together., but unless you have won the lottery or have millions usd sitting around to fund this, I don't see it happening in my lifetime.
I'm going to cry. You don't know how much it means to me to hear a fan, someone who knows the shadowrun history, that knows who Jordan Weisman is, and FASA etc.
I played the sega genesis version and the recent harebrained shadowrun games, supported through kickstarter (nothing beats the genesis version imo). I loved those games but after 3 recent games there was nowhere to go and Weisman sold the studio. They had technical limitations and could never make anything on the scale of cyberpunk2077. Phil Spencer said in a recent interview that he would love to resurrect the mechwarrior and shadowrun games, but the #1 question is, who is going to make it?
