if you're running or even just walking without sneaking, it can alert enemies and cause them to turn around, or go open a door
if you're running while invisible it lets enemies pinpoint your location and shoot at you if they have already detected you.
with lynx paws you always move silently so you never have to worry.
still, the jumping upgrades are way better
You can combine them with with legendary Sandavistan Araska software and the Ghost perk, run circles around NPCs and never be detected.
Save for sonic shock quickhack, Paws are the only real way to eliminate sound from non-sneak footsteps which is always a problem if you're not sneaking and thus will alert close enemies from walking/running around without them (even in camouflage mode). This makes a stealth build a lot faster and deadlier especially in combination with legendary camo implant. You can run up to anyone, anything and still not get detected.
The problem with just using sonic shock as an alternative is that you A) Need the legendary version I believe to make it so it cuts off target from network (preventing hack detection for it and other hacks) and B) Even with cutting off from network, it will make the target start searching for you if you don't continue hacking or eliminating the target.
So lynx paws is superior and honestly you should just get them because money doesn't matter. :)
Edit: Not to mention you can be cut off from buying them if you progress too far in a quest and make a certain decison about the Ripperdoc that sells them. Edit Edit: Nevermind. Knottypine corrected me below that it's the Epic Jump legs that you can lose out on, not the Lynx Paws. :p
Stealth in this game is so ridiculously easy that I never go over about 5 in cool any more. The other trees are just more useful.
Cool is literally the most broken tree in the game.
Dont know why people keep sleeping on it. Cool and Tech are the only 2 trees you need. If this game had new game plus all you would need to do it get Cold Blood to level 20 and then put all your points in Merciless. 100% crit chance.
Then there's the int route where you infect an entire horde because you were able to spot one guy.
Choose the jump legs my guy, they help avoid traffic when you yeet across the road too.
People tend to discount buffing, not liking the temporary nature of it. So they look elsewhere and overlook Cold Blood tree. However, in games like these where the buffs can be sustained 24/7 during combat (even get full stacks of cold blood right off the bat from a crit or falling below "x" amount of health), makes it very hard to ignore. Especially since the buffs are much better than most things in all other trees and only take investment in one line. I honestly think almost every build should at least have high cool/Cold Blood.
Soft-Sole doesn't effect footsteps. Only falling noise by landing silently. Another useful stealth mod but not as much as lynx paws. I still would take it since the 1.5 armour nerf. For stealth characters stealth and not being detected itself is the greatest damage mitigation they have. :)
Thanks. it's been a while since I did that quest. Added an Edit Edit to my original post. :D
@Jericho: They're imo the best jump legs in the game. I always got a kick out of jump hovering and attacking with stuff like monowire from above melee mobs/bosses lol.
