So that's great.
You are dissatisfied, with basically the 'tutorial', and our time with the only choom that had our back like a a good 'family' member should. Well, I guess that is up to you. Act I is there for a reason, it is world-building, and to ground the PC, it isn't there to irritate you, it is there to give the PC a solid grounding on where they came from and why they are going through the sh*t they are.
Lastly, you never did expound on 'why' you hate it, you just gave a generalization, so nobody can really agree with you.
I think you missed the part where the OP said this is thier 4th playthrough. What world building is there at that point. After youve gone through it once Act 1 is tedious and kills replayability.
I agree with the OP 100%. Why do we need to relearn how to do a braindance? Why do we need to suffer through unskippable cutscenes that weve already seen before? Why is it so freaking long?
So how do you propose they fix it?
You can't just cut it because it is, as was already said, world-building and and setup. Doesn't matter if you already beat the game or know the story; if it wasn't there the first time around, you'd be completely lost as to why you start the game off with your character spazzing out in their apartment yelling at a "ghost" with no idea how they got there.
You can't easily add a skip option because you can free-roam and do missions before that point and what are they supposed to do? Guess what equipment and stat points you got? That or they just throw you forward in the story underpowered because you skipped like 5 hours of gameplay and have no gear or stat points.
Ive already made a post about this. When you beat the game you get the option to skip Act 1.
You dont gain anything from story missions and the side quests or gigs dont disappear in Act 2. In fact doing gigs and side queats before Act 2 is completely inefficient bc you want to open the map as as fast as possible to get access to better gear and most importantly Jackie's Bike (Spoiler Alert)
Act 1 on your 2nd playthrough only exists to waste your time. World building...give me a break.
I can't think of any games that allow you to just skip hours of the story like that. I doubt most developers would want to put that option in, either.
I cant think of many games outside of Metal Gear Solid series where you barely do any real gameplay for the first 4 hours. The biggest issue is you cant respec Attributes so outside of mods the only way to create a new build is to start over. Which just crushes your soul the more you do it.
You shouldn't have to sit through 1.5 hrs worth of tutorial just to experiment with a new build. It's really disrespectful to player's time. And honestly is the biggest turn off this game actually has going. Because once the game actually opens up and you get to play it, its great.
So, yes, option like skip all Dex dialogue or hotel crawling with that stupid bot be very nice)
Given the character Level 4 or 5 and some credits. Et voila, a nice start for the 2nd (and more) playthrough.
