Cyberpunk 2077
'Optimization', comparing CP77
I got 'a recent game', it was on sale. The game looks amazing and i get 144fps, capped at my monitor. Gsync makes it ridiculous.

Why does CP77 only get me 105fps driving around on DLSS auto? CP77 looks very good, but not better than something comparable. And the resources it uses seem to be wasted.

I run a 3070ti, i have nothing to complain about... CP77 is amazing. But 'optimization', the trend, might be real.

Not trying to have a go at you so please don’t take it that way but unless if the game you purchased runs on the same engine, there is really no comparison that is possible.

This isn’t me defending or saying that the optimisation is “perfect”, “great” or even “good” (or the opposite for that matter) but I simply cannot overstate how much the choice of game engine matters. This is why it came as a big shock when they announced the next Witcher was going to be on Unreal 5 instead of REDengine.

There is also the issue of game scope and genre. Even if two games are on the same engine, a mostly linear game would be lighter on your system than a fully fledged open world game for obvious reasons.

I can see the value of using a premade engine. Saves a few sweat drops on the code monkies, and that is more money in the dev's pocket. Unreal is the trending one i think, there is a number of titles.

I suppose this addresses the optimisation theme.
And im sitting here, happy to be able to play CP at 35 fps with my GTX970 in high textures/details and 1080p.
Considering how uglier and less advanced games run on average, CP is very well optimized in my eyes.

3080 DLSS quality and all mostly maxed out (RT Psycho included, it is truly a big step over RT ultra) in 4K looks very very good + in HDR10 on a Sony OLED too.

I guess I play at 50-60 FPS and it feels smooth. It is not a real FPS so it does not matter, immersion is the main criterion in this game

I did not measure in UWQHD but it is smooth too

I learned you need to start the game through geforce experience. You get a rise in fps and a drop in cpu usage. Cause geforce experience will force the game to use the correct drivers, mean't for your gpu. So no opengl drivers or so. Also, people need to check their sound settings. And let the gpu handle the sound, also pick the correct settings under sound. If you don't have surround don't pick it. Don't pick your gpu for sound, and your cpu needs to do the work.

A do you now how to speak Dutch and German. B If you launch the game through steam, then it picks a opengl driver. Launch it through geforce experience the correct one. And the correct one, is anything except vulcan. I got an intel rig.

I really doubt it uses gl on anything other than linux, as open gl has no raytracing support.
I had this discussion, many times. Reason why i launch through geforce experience, is because the optimization process picks the right driver. Launch through steam first, and it will go first for vulcan. Maybe cause of steamdeck i don't know. But it works. Even without geforce experience, i would pick the same settings ingame and in nvidia control panel. And that's forcing the gpu to scale, sound, picking my gpu and background settings.

G-Force experience is bloatware, just another resource-hogging software that does nothing. Open GL, Vulkan, and DirectX are APIs, and I am pretty sure Cyberpunk 2077 is DX12 only.
