Are Non-Lethal Quick Hacks Lethal?
I've just done a side-mission where I was asked to not kill any of the bad guys.
So I only equipped quick hacks labeled "non-lethal".
I sneaked in and put everyone out with "short circuit" without a single shot fired.

But after the mission, I was scolded for killing people.

So does a "non-lethal" quick hack just mean that I am not guaranteed a kill when I use it once, but that if I keep using that hack until they go to the ground, they are dead after all?

Is there any way to clear enemies in a "non-lethal" way using quick-hacks?

Or was my only option to sneak around, grab everyone and perform a non-lethal takedown?

Generally they are non lethal. However if the enemy takes any damage after going down that becomes lethal. That would include something environmental like falling on a fire. Also if it wasn't a cyberpsycho mission the bonus may be for either avoiding combat or avoiding incapacitating and killing, usually only the psycho missions do you have to incapacitate without killing if I remember right, most of the rest are just no fighting.

Short circuit/Overheat/Contagion is all non-lethal, maybe the body got bug. Did everyone in your mission has died by Short circuit?

Short circuit still causes damage, so while technically non-lethal it can kill people. Something like "System Reset" will cause them to lose consciousness. The added wrinkle though is (unless it's been fixed) the game will record a kill if you toss the person in a dumpster to "hide" them, even if you just choked them out or otherwise incapacitated them.

I think short circuiting can kill. You either have to do non lethal take downs or avoid the enemy altogether. In other words, do the objective then delta.

I assume this was for the monk brothers. Same thing happened to me, I don't know if it's possible to talk to malestrom and release the monk. But it sure makes it seem that way, I figure it's just bugged. But no, the non-lethal quickhacks aren't lethal

Yeah, on the Monk mission I used short circuit on all of them, but the guy on top of the shipping container fell off, then I got scolded for killing.

Yup he took fall damage after being knocked out so he died. Any damage to a downed enemy becomes lethal.

For the monk mission you can easily use stealth and choke-outs but there is a gig in the badlands where you need to rescue a guy from a facility without killing that is stupid difficult to do and even if you do manage your fixer is cool with you but the guy always treats you like you just used his favourite kitten as a shotgun silencer.

The monk mission was the only one I didn't kill people on. It was... uncomfortable leaving everyone alive.

Wait until the monk has thanked you and left then finish the gangoons off.

Short circuit counts as non lethal.
I use it on the cyber-psycho missions all the time and all of them are completed as non lethal

Heya. So it was the monk mission, mentioned above.
I assume that someone kept taking damage from short-circuit after they went down, or whatever.

I find that the Overheat quickhack is more reliably non-lethal.

that mission is bugged in that you can disable everyone and they still say someone died. I reloaded and redid the mission to fix it.

There was some mission that I stuck a body in a garbage bin and it considered it lethal and I would fail the mission. So don't stick people in closets or garbage bins.

I just knock the guy out, maybe he can't breathe or something in a garbage bin or something???
