What's the point in making a build for your character?
What's the point in struggling so much and spending so much time to make a build for your character, if when you reach level 50 the game is over?
I mean I understand that struggling and seeing your character improving mission after mission may be fun but what I want to say is that when your build is done you have nothing to enjoy al your effort at the end.

Doesn't it make more sense to struggle at the start, leaving all the main missions aside so that you can at least have fun with your build on the main missions, or maybe cheat your level and have fun with it for all the game?

Yeah, admittedly this is an issue. Not sure why they capped the lvl at 50.

I guess I don't understand the problem, but then I've been playing RPGs that work like that for decades. This whole "want to keep leveling! Moar moar moar!" plus "the game only starts at level cap/'endgame'/must complete my build first" thing from MMOs. . . just seems odd to me. There need to be limits otherwise you don't need to make choices, and proper pacing says you don't want to max out to quickly otherwise there's nothing more to do.

(I also rarely plan out my leveling beyond a very basic level - "this playthrough will be pistols/stealth" - so the whole "complete your build" seems a bit odd to me. It's always a work in progress. /shrug)

I don't take the character build seriously at all. I basically shoot everything so I just choose points that help with that. Very few fights you can't win easily. (Outside of the boxing quest line).

That's what I'm doing on this playthrough for 1.6. I'm trying to do as many NCPD scanner missions and gigs as I can before I go do the main mission.

I mean, to each their own. if it's a first time then you kinda don't know whats gonna be happening next, hence why they gave us the ability to raise core stats EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF A CONVERSATION THAT COULD USE ANOTHER POINT OR TWO!!! :steamhappy: Subsequent playthroughs are a different story, you know what to expect to a degree and can better level yourself, and sooner, than the first time. My first time I didn't know what the hell I was doing and just became a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none character and it was kinda boring to the point that I finally finished that run a few months ago. I had pre-ordered the game and played* since day-one. *see previous sentence.

This third run I decided to be a cyber-samurai and I'm having a blast running around groups of gang members slicin' n dicin' and watching body parts fly off!!! It's fun to have a medium to where you can commit a crime, legally, with zero repercussion, and no lives lost all while fulfilling that childhood fantasy of being a ninja.

I don't understand the problem either. The point is to play the character the way you want to play him/her, focusing on weapons or quickhacks or techniques that appeal to you, experimenting when you feel like mixing it up, adjusting your combat strategy based on your circumstances, leaving difficult areas to come back once you're stronger, etc, etc.

I mean, I can understand why "maxing your character" can be part of the meta game for some, but it's certainly not inherently an important goal and there isn't necessarily a need for more content that takes advantage of a maxed build.

I just bought the game; I'm not sure what the problem is either; leveling/improving just happens in most games; for me it's the visual experience and the ease of controls, combined with my feeling like I have the tools to succeed and the skills to get things done. If the game comes to life for me and it's fun, the rest is a bonus. I've played Skyrim since its release, and the last characters I've had are just out there having an adventure at whatever levels, and I hope Cyberpunk brings a similar experience.

Why is this specifically a problem for Cyberpunk 2077 and not an issue for games like Fallout 3 and New Vegas? It's bizarre the criticism levied against this game that other games get a pass on.

Could be just me, but those games are remembered for other things that character development. Customization is a big deal in 2077. But anyway, that customization won't end at level 50... you probably still have a bunch of modifications and implants to discover, or that's how it was like for me when I last played.

No offense, but that OP gives me intense vibes from min/max FTP MMO's I used to play.
Just....enjoy the journey...

lolwat? Character Customization is definitely a big part of character development in those games, especially New Vegas. Even has implants AND the Logan's Loophole perk to really put an emphasis on character building.

For anyone who does not understand the problem. It is a modern problem with a modern playerbase. They seem to not understand what a character is. They do not seem to understand what roleplay is. They want games that continue on forever because progress to them is just a line going up. If they can no longer have a line going up, then there is nothing else to do. You have ended the game. That is why you have people thinking roleplaying is if you use a big gun, small gun or energy weapons. "I am going to roleplay as a knife melee master" or "I am going to be a big brawn guy with a minigun this time". They see builds as roleplaying. Not the act of actually acting the part making decisions according to the character instead of what is the most optimal.

Never bothered with builds, I usually have an idea for what I'm gonna do in the playthrough ("full slomo brawler or sneaky hackerboy this time") and then base it off what's happening in game. First playthrough I found an OP revolver and ended up doing a revolver one-shot guy and in the next playthrough I found a sniper early on and built my character off that.

I'll join the: "I don't get the problem" crowd.

First, what do you mean with 'spending so much time to make a build'? Seriously. You play the game, you get some stats and perks point, you spend them. You make it sound like some actual work is involved there?

Second, the game isn't in any way over when you reach level 50. You just don't get additional stat point anymore, but you can still get perks and skills. You can still modify/ improve cyberware and gear. And of course you can still continue to play, thats completly independent from your ability to gain more attribute points.

Third: Just get a mod to remove the level cap.

I like to max everything. Not being able to is annoying, if I want to grind 20 years for it. Thats on me, at least give the option.
