Is the Writing good?
I really don't have a Good PC for this game but I think I can tolerate the 40+ FPS on high for the story. But what do you guys think of the story?
My favorite about the Witcher 3 is the incredibly good writing or dialogue, It's just so good.
Is it worth it for this game? Ignore what you guys think about the bugs and whatnot then think about the story alone.

Ehh, the story is good but I feel the real reason to get this game is the world and atmosphere. If you looking at it just for its story and you don't have a pc that could run it well, I say no, even though I personally love this game.

So far I'm enjoying the story. I'm not too far in but it seems to focus on what CDPR do best: character writing.

That said bugs and glitches can hurt even the story parts, and if you don't have a good pc you probably won't get it to run on High settings, let alone 40+ fps.

I like the characters and writing a lot, but it's nowhere near the level of polish of the Witcher games and it shows in almost every aspect, unfortunately.

If you expected any mechanic/feature from the hype period, then it's a bit disappointing
But overall story are good in my opinion so far, at the very least can easily get hooked in and wanting to know more about what's next more than Witcher 3
Writing on Johnny Sliverhand is good, showing an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and a jackass but understandable, you can like him or hate him

As for bug, PC version are more stable in launch, but a lot of them already swatted by now, so far haven't seen a bug yet for me, though driving around in vehicle can be wonky because of how they design them

By a Good PC I mean I don't have those monsters PC that money could buy and mine's just a decent one.
a GTX 1650 and a I7-2600. Game seems to be running at 40+ fps from what I played so far but then again I'm at the intro and not at the open world stuff lol.

I did see some T-pose when they were showing the highlights of what V and Jackie did after they met lol but I think I can live after seeing that.

Feels patchier than TW3, though for me it's not quality of the writing which is at fault but V not being as clearly defined as Geralt to give a range of plausible voices to within so many tonal/thematic shifts, but when it's good Cyberpunk is absolutely golden. They've gone big on the cinematic side and the writing really supports that. Think it says a lot for how well they use their tools when you get people wanting the small intro area to be a much longer experience solely because of a single character you meet.

Random aside, but how the story and arcs off it are structured are, very quietly, best in class for this kind of monstrously large open world ARPG. Game does some interesting stuff and when it all comes together it's very, very good. When it doesn't, it's still above average for an open world ARPG.

Really? personally i couldn't care less about the "world and atmosphere" as a setting cyberpunk aesthetic is cool. Playing the game i really just want to progress the story no interest in getting apartment/ cars / clothes / money etc. all weapons I have ive looted/ upgraded. To each their own but to me im more interested in finding out what happens to v than doing random side jobs for "fixers"

i like the ending set ups a lot. Not to get into spoilers but the last act of the story takes you to some cool places just like witcher 3 did.

The writing is undeniably good, the problem is how it’s presented.

Like the main story is extremely short and it felt very rushed and unsatisfying unlike the Witcher 3.

The side content which mostly consists of gigs rely heavily on finding shards which are basically notes and e-mails to make sense. It is better than nothing but the Witcher 3 had you interacting with multiple npcs and in this regard the game is sadly deprived, but the side quests that do have you interacting with npcs are 10/10 Imo but sadly they make a very small chunk of the games side content.

The worldbuilding and atmosphere are top notch.

For what it’s worth, this game won the “Outstanding Story-Rich Game” award during the 2021 Steam Awards. Just throwing that out there FYI.

Personally I preferred Witcher 3’s story over Cyberpunk’s for a multitude of reasons but the main reason, without going into spoiler territory, is progression and development. Again without going into detail, Cyberpunk’s story felt to me like treading water whereas Witcher 3’s story was swimming.

But hey that’s just my opinion. Hell if anything, I’m probably in the minority here with my views so definitely read up on some other views/opinions. Your mileage may (or rather, will) vary.

One thing I would like to clarify though, is that even though I have a clear preference for TW3 over CP2077 in terms of story specifically, this does not in any way mean I actively dislike the plot in Cyberpunk (quite the opposite in most if not all cases actually). Regardless of what I think, it’s a unique story and I strongly encourage everyone to experience it for themselves and form their own opinions on it.

The story is good but the writing as a whole is fantastic. Some of the side quests are incredible. Id say its worth it definitely.

I'd say the writing is in fact very good. The story has more depth than catches they eye.

Here's the thing: If you just follow the next quest marker, the story is pretty short. You're done fast, its kinda... unrewarding. You can then come back here soon and complain of all the plot holes you think you found.

The actuall story requires some digging. This is a Cyberpunk world, nothing is as straight forward as it seems. You need to actually pay attention to what people are saying, and what they are not saying. All these sidequests, even most of the scanner scrambles, they have their own plot. Read whats on the shards, in the files on some terminal you found in a side room, or simply try to listen what the people are saying when the think noone is listening.

But most importantly remember: People are lying. Most of them. There are maybe 3, at best 4 people in the entire game you can actually trust. Most people you meet and interact with are trying to manipulate you. Take everything presented to you with a pinch of salt.

Lots of Dialogue and Idle Voicelines Also
I'm someone who likes to listen to all dialogues in games, whether it's from an NPC nearby telling a story or chatting with someone on a phone, to in game story of course there's also blue text choices that don't progress the story/mission that allows you to gain more information or backstory in some situations, even if you don't make a decision and as long as there's no timer as some will have, they'll question why you're being silent also, so voicelines wise, it's amazing to me

Good Luck & Have Fun :smiling:

The story is amazing, one of the best storys from a game Ive ever played. Ive sunken another 60 hours just these past 2 weeks. Lock it to 30 FPS, or try throwing on FSR. I suggest watching a video on optimized settings.
