I mean, it's pretty hard to max out various skills (engineering, for instance) for perk points unless you "unnecessarily" kill a lot of people... :P
So basicly you're saying that you are not capable of immersing yourself in a fictional game/world and "roleplay" while playing a roleplaying game? Kinda sad if you're asking me (we know you're not asking...just...don't.).
I for one however, try not to kill anyone I deem not worthy of beeing killed. Corpos, Animals (usually) and Valentinos don't do much "bad stuff" when I'm around on the individual level. Tygers, Maelstrom, Wraiths and some other individuals however tend to go to sleep quite often. A very, very, very deep sleep. Scavs are a whole other thing. Scavs are KOS. No exceptions. I tend to go out of my way just to "take care" of that group of Scavs I just drove by.
The word "factions" implies relationships, you don't. They are all bad guys with different outfits for you to kill.
Mechanically theyre just different shaped punching bags, lorewise theyre each their own distinct group of people with their own goals and motivations.
NCPD requires a more clandestine approach in most cases if lacking firepower and armor.
VDB each get a lovely gift of a large caliber slug ripping through their chrome domes.
