system reset vs robots
i thought system reset was an auto turn off button for robots mechs and drones, but on a recent gig all it did to the sec robots was make them fall over and then they immediately stood back up as if nothing had happened at all. did they change something? or is this a glitch? very frustrating as it is very difficult to stealth a robot otherwise.

no, short circuit is good for damaging drones and bots and stuff, but it often takes a few appliances if you are not going heavy hacking. im almost certain used system reset in my last run for instantly and silently turning off bots and stuff, and the internet seems to support this memory with the wiki descriptions of what the quickhack supposedly does. but these descriptions are also likely pre 1.6 so i dont know if they maybe changed something or if its just glitching. for i have not tested beyond this one encounter either as i got the quickhack recently this time around.

Granted, I have not played a netrunner build in looong while (many patches ago), but "have you tried turning it off and on again" sounds like 'System Reset' to me. Where as 'Short Circuit' will break the thing.

No idea whether that changed or not (intentionally or bug wise).

This was changed in patch 1.5 i think. Before then system reset used to shut down bots and drones completely, now it's not useful at all on bots and drones, they just power down for a second or two and then power back on.

I guess it was a bit OP, i mean it was a one-shot garuenteed takedown of any bot, so that's likely why they changed it. On the other hand though, system reset has a really long cooldown period, so it's not like you can spam the thing, so i'm not sure the change was all that needed.

hmm. im nearly certain i remember using it to quietly and quickly take down bots after 1.5 (which is when i got the game anyway). it was only on this new playthrough (after 1.6) that i find it not working.
i def dont think it was op though. the whole point of this and suicide is they are one shot kill/ko quickhacks. i guess maybe its op vs a mech but a bot or drone it should work on. now its much harder to stealth kill bots, but i did find that cybermalfunction plus a good melee weapon works pretty well if you are quick enough and can get right on it before it can alert the others. not viable in all situations though.

Short Circuit works wonders against robots, especially if you have Blade Runner perk from Engineering.
