Can't get the Quadra Type-66 "Cthulhu"?

In my current playthrough I decided to win the race instead of following Sampson at Clare's demands.

Anyway, doing this won't give me the car for free, but I imagine that Regina would still text me to sell me the car eventually?
Well, it's been a long time since I finished the quest, and Regina still hasn't texted me about the car.
So my question is, if I don't follow Sampson at all after he abandons the race, will I not be able to purchase the "Cthulhu"?

I don't think finishing the race gives you the option to buy the car. Pretty sure you have to follow him either way. Whether you get it for free or have to pay depends on if Sampson is spared or killed.

the one you buy and the one you get free are different. you have to follow simpson and prevent claire from killing him.

its 2 different ways (there are no duplicate cars in the game) sorry for the confusion. as i said you have to follow simpson and get claire to not kill him.

Ah, ok. Yes, that to get it for free. If you screw up the dialogue before the race even if you follow him and try to stop Claire it is impossible for you to stop her, she kills Sampson anyway. I had to get it from Regina in my current playthrough as I forgot that.

Well, I guess I've got no other choice... But to load up Cyber Engine Tweaks

You have to wait couples days to get message from Regina(if kill him) or Sampson(if spared him).
If spared him, you will get a Cthulhu as free. Or you have to purchase about 76000 eddies if kill him. The location is top level of Megabuilding H10 parking lot.

I know that.
My question was if I ignore him and just go and win the race instead, if I'd be still able to purchase it.
Given how long ago I completed the mission and that I still haven't receuthe message, and according to what others answered already, it is not possible to obtain it if I just win the race.
At least not in any legitimate way :)

You have to follow him to get the vehicle. If you kill him, the vehicle comes up for sale from regina for 75k I believe. If you spare him, he calls you in like 2 weeks and gives it to you.

If you just win the race, he has no reason to lose the ride.

Yeah I wish there'd at least be some bigger reward for actually winning the race.

Nah you're screwed since sampson basically doesnt know you but i dont think you're super screwed since the quadra turbo r (other free car you get) I think is better.
